General Chat / Back on! But Important Question
« on: September 04, 2014, 11:13:46 PM »
Hi guys im back on! My boys are ok and doing well. They are still brats from time to time when they want something. Changing the subject my birthday is in a month and a half. And i am planning on bringing another type of pet in my responsiblitiy and home. I still havent decided from either a Pair of Ferrets or Sugar Gliders. Moving to the question, would my chins have to bond with the other pets and vice versa? I wouldnt want a conflict between each other. I am a patient person when it comes to anything especially my pet. But i do lose it when it involves there health. But please let me know as soon as possible if it would be a good idea to home them in the chinchillas room or a separte room. As long as both animals are healthy and away from conflict.

General Chat / Can Chinchillas have those Dont carry me days?
« on: August 08, 2014, 07:52:11 PM »
My chins have this every so often to where i carry them and they will get figity and want to jump off to play or they want to jump off my hands into there cage. But i notice they do this when they want to get there way... With playtime. And they will get mad and different with me but not my brother or my dad lol so all i want to know if this is normal when they have there "Please dont bug me days" and its not me over thinking there something dangerously wrong with them. They eat incredibly fine, excersise and water intake is great. There both alert like there suppose too. They are normally figity when i carry them but its not like to the point when there like literally trying to come off of me to play. I occasionally get scratched from both of them. Ohh funny thing is when im cleaning there cage during there "im mad at you" days they will sneak up to me and bite my hair.. Yea ik nice but other then that they will get tired and pretty cranky so i leave them alone during the rest of the day.

General Chat / important question about changing hay
« on: July 31, 2014, 02:55:39 PM »
today I went to find some timothy hay for my chins but the petsmarts around me aren't getting any for at least a month so I go to a grandma and grandpa pet store and they too didn't have have any for some odd reason so I just got then a 5 pound bag of kaytee timothy hay that will be temporary until I get another bag of oxbow hay. will this affect them in any negative way? I literally had no choice. I am going to introduce it slowly because everyone is suppose to do that but I want to know that they will be ok. I really don't know whats going on with oxbow.

Health / Chinchilla Hit his Nose or Head!! WILL HE BE OK!?!?
« on: July 29, 2014, 10:49:18 PM »
earlier today i grabbed my feisty chinchilla to hold him since him and i are trying to bond more and he let me but he started going crazy like usual and as he escaped from my arms he jumped and hit the bars on the bottom of the first level. i wouldnt say Hard to cause some bleeding, dizzyness, or any scary things. when he got on his feet he kept wiping his nose and i know he hit his nose because my grandma always taught me if any pet hit his head touch the bridge of his nose to see if theres a bump which can mean brain swelling. so i did and well typically he doesnt like me petting his but or from the tops of his eyes to his butt and i touched it and no bump i massaged his little nose and he seemed good. but i got scared because he kept wiping his nose and i guess from being so scared he went into shock and tried climbing the cage pole and i never seen him do that. i left the cage doors open to monitor him and he was fine he went to eat and running like if nothing happend but as i got him back in the cage i did see him a bit anxious and him breathing a bit fast. so i just want to know he will be ok theres no signs of Major problems that need medical attention. like i said hes back to normal like if nothing happend i think really hes a little shooken up from the nose bang. i felt so bad for him, i literally pampered him for a good 30 minutes to see if he was ok and fortunatley he is ok from what i see. i just dont want him hitting his nose or anything again
im probably gonna have to baby proof the outside of the cage now

lol its funny both my chins throw tantrums after playing. they go to there toy bowl and tip it over and literally make a huge mess, then they go to there food bowl carry some pellets and run to there hammock and leave there pellets there. and they both run around there cage and make noise until they get tired

General Chat / How to Bond Better with my Aggresive Chin
« on: July 17, 2014, 02:47:24 AM »
hi, i havent been on here for awhile now and only because i had a grandmother pass away from Cancer... yes it was very hard and still kind of getting over it but anyways. i have a chin that has gotten aggressive and scared towards me and the reason why this started was becuase of 4th of july and maybe because i wasnt there to comfort them they were mor scared and orobably didnt like me after that for some reason. so basically what he does is when i stick my hand in the cage he will sometimes charge at me and will bite me and he will run off. or if not he will hop away from me. idk if he is a type of chinchilla that dislikes to be handled but he has let me before but i feel hes scared because he tries to recomfort himself by moving around or by acting crazy and woobling everywhere. from both my boy chins he is the one who is basically the king of the cage and everything. and yea ik i cannot do anything to change that. but my concern is how can i get them to warm up to me again and even better? i really want to do that and dont need them both living in fear. ohh yeah i let them out for play time and one of my chins lets me carry him back in the cage and the (aggresive one) does not AT ALL we have to get him the dust bath but that rarely works. so i have to give him a little piece of cherrio half the size of a pea and he will come to me and ill scoop him up.

but like i said again what do you or anyone recomend on taming them/bonding with them again. need them stress, frightend free.

ohh yea if you any of you seen my post on the health section for chins yes my chin had soft stool and i found the reason why. he loves water vet found no parasites but he said maybe he has a high level of stress and willl take sometime to recover but hes going to be good. he recommended alkaline water actually fights bacterias, viruses. he said to use that if it comes to the case of not having money for meds. and ive done research on it its very healthy other people have given it to there chins and some say it works within a day or 2 some say a week. but yes please comment ways to bond with my chins again.

Health / One of my chins has mushy poop!! HELP
« on: April 20, 2014, 11:45:18 PM »
Earlier today i had bought them both a new hide away and i gave them both a treat (Goji Berries)
So a while ago i went to check up on them and they were jumpy as usual chachi popcorns a lot and chunky is the fiesty one doesnt like to be petted or anything. But i notcied smushed poops so i said in my mind please dont let this be mushy poop...and surely it was so i started panicking and everything but them i remember i gave them a treat so i think this happend awhile back to but i didnt pay no attention because here poop went back to normal but this time i noticed it. I smelled the bag and it smelled like strong Smell like if they werent good. So i kept panicking and i cant really afford a vet visit until next monday :/. There poop is mushy, looks moist, dark brown or like brown. But mushy so im really worried im gonna have some Really sick chin(s). I gave them More Hay i give them Kaytee Timothy Hay and Oxbow Pellets and i refilled there bottle with slight cold water because they like it cold lol.

So if theres ways i can avoid this getting worse other then a vet visit please tell me because i want them better asap! My dads keeping a look out on the their poops and my grandma is too.

Oh yea i forgot there not watery, not sticking to there fur, or they dont have a smell either. There just mushy and thats it really.

Please help in some sort of way :(

Q & A / Is it Normal for my chin to have quite a mellow personality?
« on: April 04, 2014, 08:12:01 PM »
He is calm and not a moody very jumpy chin. He eats, drinks water, plays a bit and chews a bit to. No poop problems, no signs of illness or pain. But i do notice he is a bit stressed with the new enviorment and since it was his first night with his brother too.

Is it a mellow personality he has or is he depressed?

General Chat / worried about my chin!
« on: April 03, 2014, 10:41:49 PM »
ok so first off I have 2 boys about a little over 6 months and they both are bonded of course. thing is today I barely got them both and one is very energetic and the other is usually calm. he does run up and down sometimes and eats hay and what not but then he relaxes on the second level and he looks tired in a way. is he sick or is he getting use to the envoirment. the breeder told me one is very jumpy and the other is calm. both there stools look healthy, they both don't have watery or white goop from there eyes. no signs over heat stroke because temperature is at 68 degrees and humidity. he like cleans himself like it looks like he's wiping his face and stuff. but then he relaxes and eats hay and what not and poops and so forth. no signs of stress either.
