Flippy Chin
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:47:56 PM »

Peaches has taken up flipping round the room? She goes mad, I don't know if it could be because she's still nervous of us, as we've only had her nearly 2 weeks. But she didn't do this until she'd been with us for a week. She has a wheel in her cage that she adores, so I kinda ruled out pent up energy.
She'll come out of her cage herself and explore the room, then after a while the flipping starts. She jumps now too which is a good thing I imagine, but the flipping caught me off guard. A bit worried she'll hurt herself, though I imagine with the amount of fur chinnies have she should be relitively ok as far as little bumps go?

Can you better describe what you mean by "flipping"?

I'm a programmer not a chinchilla breeder. I learn by asking questions just like you.

Sumersault, or however it's spelt. She'll just be standing there then, not so much jump, but spin herself around mid-air, then speed off.

That is normal.  Here are some videos of a chinchilla doing flips:
