anyone have 2 males who share a cage?
« on: January 13, 2010, 01:40:17 AM »

I have an embarrassing question.  I just got 2 cute 6 month old males who have been "cage mates" since birth.  They are now in my loving home and doing well together. One problem: each seems to try and hump one another, is this normal? Neither show to be the dominant one, as both equally try to mount the other.  I know both are definately males, as I have checked for hair rings already.  What to do? Discourage and try to stop them when they try? Please help......

This is how they decide who is going to the the "top dog" in the cage.  It is perfectly normal.  It will stop once they get well bonded.  :)

Yes...I too have two males...purchased them from a breeder when they were weaned. And...they did as you mentioned your males are doing now. And...as stated by chinclub. They will give this up later. At least my two did. New home...might have brought it on...or they haven't decided on who is "top dog" as of yet...

::silly:: Under these circumstances, it is not a "sexual" thing, but it is normal and is a "who's going to be the alpha chin" thing.  ::silly::

I have sold many of male pairs that live together. Yes they will do that, as long as it's not an attack and there's no fur flying or savage barks just let them have their fun.
