You've found a great friend in that one, congrats  ::highfive::

You want to have a bond with the baby before you put him with the big boys so he knows you'll protect him.
Yes adding a kit to the mix seems to be the easiest but you still never know who will like who.
Always have hide-a-ways so any and all have a place to hide should a fight break out, and never leave them alone in the cage until you are sure all are getting along.

Check the feet too, they like to over groom them sometimes.

Make the baby your pet before adding him to the herd.

It's a chinchilla not a lion, put it in a carrier. ;)   ::phhhhhhth::

Q & A / Re: Cat Litter?
« on: March 18, 2013, 10:10:49 AM »
I tried a homemade dust years back that called for bentonite clay, which is plain kitty litter, plus lime and silica sand.
So they will roll in it too.
Crappy stuff it was too.

Q & A / Re: Aggressive Chins
« on: March 18, 2013, 10:05:45 AM »
Hard to tell what pees them off, but I just rescued 2 males that have been together from months old, though not related. The lady said they were fine then started fighting after 2 years together. I had to separate them as soon as I picked them up. The little one was getting quite the licking from the big one. Never came to her to separate them  ::)

They seem fine now after 3 months apart. Though they know each other is still around, but now there are many more too. ::nod::

Q & A / Re: Introducing 2 female chinchillas
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:56:12 AM »
Some chins just don't like each other. I have tried many pairings that never worked and just about to give up when they will pick one they like. ;)
I have also see 2 that I thought would never get along change their tune.
You just never know .

Q & A / Re: Chins and Dogs
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:52:39 AM »
Here is one with a little white violet I had to hand feed, Chance would stimulate it for me by licking. No matter how small my dog will never hurt another animal. and one with my dove.
It all depends on how well trained your dog it.

Some chins don't like other chins even, so not out side the realm of possibility that your chin just does not like the dog.
That said my maltipoo thinks it's his job to look after all  my critters, chins, buns GP's hamsters, birds. what ever. He will sit with it, follow it around and the buns will even play with him. some of the chins groom him.
