Q & A / Re: Pee
« on: July 12, 2012, 02:44:45 PM »
She's only done it the past week or so it's a nightmare. I think I will get something to cover the floors, it's weird, when she's out she always runs back in the cage to pee. She's not done it on the wall or anything, she's just basically pee'd in the top corner and some has come out of the side. How lazy is she!

I'll have a go at covering the floor and see how that helps.

I have a very heavy bowel, so she's unable to flip it. Which is good. She makes enough mess lols.

Awh she's great MB; I still can't pick her up though, she won't let me. But she comes over to me, and sits on me, lets me stroke her and stuff, but I've never picked up up. Had no reason to tbf, she gets in and out of the cage herself. And comes up to the side to 'talk' to me.

I wish she'd play with me a bit more, still gaining her trust I guess lol.

Q & A / Pee
« on: July 10, 2012, 08:53:20 PM »
Usually Peach has always pee'd in the left hand back corner of the cage, but lately I've noticed that it's all down the side of the cage (on that side) and also on the floor as if she's just sitting on the top shelf and having a pee! Is there anyway I can deter this? So that she goes back to pee'ing at the bottom. It's such a mess!

Q & A / Re: Hay

Heya MB,

Yeah I'm quite sure now it's the hay, Peach has been running about most the afternoon, jumping all over me and even sitting on my cheek whilst I lay reading a book and I didn't so much as get a sniffle.

So it's obviously not her that's doing it.

I think it depends on your Chin for the flying saucer (The one that's in my picture)

I put it in her cage whilst Peach was running around the lounge and she ran back in jumped right on it and was really going for it, I was quite amazed since I'd read that some chins don't get the hang of it. But she loves it, She's on it all the time, and sometimes sleeps on it too!.

Which I like her sleeping on it, I have a bed, a wooden house!, mats and stuff around the cage, but no she sleeps on the wire bit of the cage or the shelf with her hand on the wire! All the comfortable places to sleep in her cage and that's where she chooses!.

Q & A / Re: Hay
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:56:31 AM »
Thanks,

I'll get rid of the hay I've got first and once that's gone I'll try the hay cubes.

I'm not sure if the hay is the reason for my allergies I do suffer from allergies from pollen, but it has been especially bad for the past few weeks. And my partner suggested it could be Peach that I'm allergic too.

I've read though that the fur on Chinchillas aren't the type that get allergies. But I'll check the hay out. It's manageable but annoying I'm sick of sneezing and itching lol.

I've got another bag of hay to go and then I'll try the hay cubes for her. I do think the hay is the only option for the allergy as it's the only thing in the cage that could possibly set it off.

Q & A / Hay
« on: July 08, 2012, 05:07:38 AM »
Is there any kind of Hay that I can give Peach??

I'm currently using the Timothy hay, and sometimes the stores own hay, but my allergies have been really bad the past few weeks, I'm thinking that it may be due to the hay I'm using, is there anything else I can give her that won't set off my allergies?

I've seen a lot of good reviews for some of the wheels, I'm not too sure what it's called but this is the one I use for Peach.

She loves it, and runs on it quite a lot. She actually runs around the lounge, and then jumps back in to her cage to run on the wheel for a bit, and runs back out to play. Although the wheel was really expensive!! My partner brought it for her and it cost almost £90 which is like $140 USD.

Well Peach seems to be settling in great. Had her just over a week now, and she is quite friendly, still rather jumpy but lets me stroke her on the head, and under her chin. She'll come over to me when I go near the cage. She also loves playing out (Has her favorite spot to sit on my sons chair under the table. She's very easy to get back in her cage, she has her bath, and then has a raisin and goes back in. She also jumps on my knee whilst I'm sat on the sofa.

My other half purchased a flying saucer wheel for her today which she loves. She runs around on that thing for ages, didn't take her long to get the jist of it at all.

I'm not even sure what they are? Where can I get them and what do they look like? Are you able to give them more than the raisins? She seems to really enjoy those.

She's just been out in my lounge for two hours, getting her to go back inside was slightly hard work. But I gave her a stroke behind her ears. She just wants to come back out she's pawing at the cage door.

So she's been coming up to me and taking the raisins from my hand when I put them at the bottom of the cage. It takes a little while for her to come down. She generally sits on my hand now to eat them but if I try and move my hand she runs to the top of the cage.

I gave her a bath today. I had the cage door open and was letting her sniff my hand and she was playing around me. And then I put the bath on the second level of the cage, she absolutely loved it and was then running around her cage for a mad hour, running in and out of the bath. It was the most adorable thing I've seen in a long time.
I was planning to maybe let her out next week put the cage on the floor and open it, and then lure her back in with a bath and raisin. I think if I give her a bath (is it everyday?) And a raisin right after it she might be more willing to get back in the cage and have her bath to get the raisin.

We shall see. But so far things seem to be looking well with her.

Yeah I mean the wooden house, she doesn't really sleep in it. She tends to sleep in different spots around the cage but her house. She goes in there and eats the hay has a little sit down.

She's started playing a lot more and running around. And yesterday evening she cam down to the bottom of the cage from the top where I had a raisin in my hand and stood on my hand whilst she ate in there. It took her at least 25minutes to come down as she wanted me to put it in the bars for her lol. But she came and ate it. But when she was sniffing for some more she must of smelt it and nipped my hand (Wasn't hard just a small nip that didn't even hurt) But when she did that she ran away. So i just talked to her for a bit. She comes over to me when I go near the cage and I speak to her, but I haven't made any attempt to touch her (Apart from giving her raisins as I want her to come to me for them and trust me enough to do so)

I do need to clean out the cage (It's been 4 days today since I got her, and would like to give it a clean but I'm a little scared of scaring her. I thought the cage I had, had a pull out drawer but it doesn't do you think she'll be ok if I lure her into her carry case with a treat whilst I clean it?

lols! That's so cute! I think they're adorable. I'm looking forward to when I can have her out and about in the lounge.
