New Births / Questions about my baby chinchilla

I was wondering, how do I get closer to my baby Chinchilla. he is about 6 weeks old now.
and grouchy like his Mom. but he is sweet. I was wondering why he gets a little upset, and squeaks and yells when I
try to pick him up. given the fact I am careful when trying to get him.

how long will it takes to get him use to me. I have been petting him for a few weeks now.
The mother chinchilla lets me. she takes good care of him.
I am thinking when I get the money to buy another cage to seperate him from his parents.

General Chat / How do I prepare my room and cage for the winter

ok hot topic, how do I keep my bedroom warm when winter gets here.
I dont have no heat but I can buy another heater, I need to know what temperture it should be
for my chinchillas.

I'm mainly think of the new baby who will be older by then, he is 3 weeks old now almost a month old.
my adult chinchillas seemed to love the cold air yet i kept them warm
is that unusal that they loved the cold air or what?

General Chat / Does your chinchilla spill his/her food bowl

  I am having a problem with my sweet chinchillas, they seem to knock their food bowl over
on purpose. no matter what i give them. when food bowl is full they leave it alone. and they do eat healthy
food. i just want to know why are they do this? and how do i get it to stop.
i cant always keep the food bowl full. and the waste of the food kills me.

I need some help. ok where do I start. recently some time ago my female chinchilla had babies. one turn up missing in a week and now recently the other one just died.

im still new to this,thinking the female chinchilla is lonely now. that it is safe to put the male chinchilla back in.
found out thats a mistake she wanted to kill him. help me understand whats going on.

its confusing she always got along with him before, now she picks a fight.
i see its to soon, when is the best time to get them back together.
and will she let him back in the home they have been in for a long time.

:::grins::i'm so happy, i never realized that having a chinchilla would be so fun. I'm holding them both in my lap, so sweet yet still scared.

General Chat / Do Chinchillas shed, and if so why

My sister and I bought 2 chinchillas, well she did for us. she bought them yesterday on the 1st of september. we have 1 male and 1 female.
according to the woman we got them from, the girl is in heat. she could not care for them any longer, so she sold them to us. please help us, we want to learn
more about them.
