General Chat / Laying Positions
« on: July 06, 2008, 10:36:42 PM »
I just let Dusty out for playtime for the first time in a month,(i know bad :'( but i had finals and then i went on vacation) And he mustve really gotten out of shape because he was probably out for 45 min and then when i put him back in he lied down on his side to sleep like a person and he usually sleeps sitting upright so he must have been pooped. at least im hoping thats all it is ::scaredspeachless::.
Does anyone elses chinchillas sleep in funny positions? pictures would be a bonus

Dusty likes to be a little Ninja and jump of walls. I usually just tap my fingers on the floor to make a little noise, 'tap tap tap tap"  and move my fingers towards him and he will run to the nearest wall and jump off it, like the matrix :::grins:: or he will run up and jump on my hand and just sit on it so i cant tap anymore ::)

Cages / Need a New Cage
« on: June 24, 2008, 02:59:26 PM »
I bought a new cage about 6 months ago, it has a copper bottom and it is a real pain to clean, so im looking for a new cage, but all the ones ive been looking at are to small or dont seem fit for a chinchilla. Any suggestions? O and the cage is for one chinchilla, and i keep a saucer wheel in it, and a house for him to sleep in.

Dusty has never tried eating his carefresh before, not that ive seen anyway. But where do you get kiln tried aspen or pine? is that the kind you buy in the petstore?

I use carefresh and i suggest most people do because even though its more expensive, wood chip shaving bedding can cause respitory problems.

The basement for us is definately the best, its usually about 20 degrees cooler than upstairs. Luckily i live in seattle so the hottest it usually gets in the summer gets is 85-90
