General Breeder Chat / Poor Baby :(
« on: May 12, 2012, 10:34:30 AM »
Our female finally had a little one, but it was still born and was about 3 weeks too early.  It was her first and she only had one.  We think it was just too big for her first time.  It happened between 4:00am and 7:00am.  Of course I was up till 4am that morning.  It was so heart breaking, and the little one was a female with the most wonderful white mosaic coloring.  She stood there waiting for us hoping we could help, and we tried for 2 hours to warm her up but just couldn't get her to come back.

It's been a few weeks and I still cannot get that little cute face out of my head.  I’m not sure I ever will  ::cry222:::

Cages / Re: building a cage in Ag.Mech. any design ideas?

Do you by chance go to calpoly?  You should look at the ferret nation cage.  It seems to be a nice size, but I would redo it to have pull out stainless steel trays.  Powder Coating is great :)

I'm surprised..  Have you called the vet?  Usually they have an emergency number.  There has to be an animal hospital near by.

If your not sold on the pumpkin, we keep oxbow critical care on hand.  Petsmart has it.  Good luck and I hope he's okay!

Also, I know this is a bad way of learning, but I never allow them out of my site when they run around.  I like them playing in the bathtub as well because there is nothing they can get hurt on.  Make sure it is dry and no chemicals are around.  Just an idea, I hope that he gets better rather quickly.  I feel for you.  I'm not sure what I would do if mine got hurt or worse  ::cry222:::

I'm not a vet nor a doctor.

*note, I take no responsibility and disclaim all implied and express warranties.  This is purely for informative purposes*

My best suggestion is to create a splint if he is really hurt.  Is it his foot or back leg?  If it is a foot, I would cut a popsicle stick, being that it is flat.  Make sure that you sand off any any splinters so he cannot harm himself.  I would place it on the bottom of his foot and one on the top attach it with medical tape.  I believe this would be the safest bet for now.  You need to protect the foot from further damage.  I would also consider putting in lots of flease in his house and try and keep him in there.  If he's not eating maybe some organic pumpkin would help.  Again, this is meant to be a temp situation until you can get to the vet.  He might need some pain medication or a cast.

If it is his place two sticks one on each side and do the same with the tape.  Good luck and baby him really well.

Yah I wasn't really sure, but the color is coming out more like a violet than a beige.  I love her very much, she's my little cuddles :)

General Chat / New Color?
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:58:32 AM »
We originally thought we had bought a pink white, but the more time has gone on she has developed violet tendencies on her tail, back side and around her ears.  We took her into the breeders and they think she might be a pink white violet.  Has anyone heard of this?

You can see the ears on this picture, I will have to take more later.

I vacuum pack all of my food, stays quite fresh that way honestly.  And no issues with bugs or anything :)

I have one from valley view chinchillas.  They make all of their own stuff, and our babies never had any problems

Ours gets out of his all the time.  I’m not brave enough to bring him out doors.

Yah I have it mounted in the ferret nation cage right now, but it is their "play time cage" and not their sleepy time one.  I still need to finalize the modifications.  I just got the stainless steel pans made and just need to build the slide out portion
