Price is reduced to $1600/poss neg for 6 excellent quality chins and supplies.
Indiv. prices:
mos .com male $275
silver female $200
white eb poss TOV female $275
.com beige TOV female $375
.com standard female $450
.com mos female $475

Prices may be negotiable esp on multiples, I'd really like them to have homes by the end of the month.  I have some videos on youtube (they were cell phone cam so not great) if you want to view them, my username is classicchinchillas

Also I will be headed up to Atlanta and possibly Nashville at the end of the month; while It would be best if they had homes before then, they could travel along if needed.

Oopsie, I'm in Orlando, FL and my website is www.freewebs.com/classicchinchillas/forsale.html

There's a few extra pics and I can get more on request; most are fairly recent, some from the other day.  A few are priming now.

Also may be a possibility of me traveling up to/through TN (hwy 75, 24) within a month or 2.

Am thinking of keeping these guys for spoiled pets and perhaps breeding again in the future, but if someone wants to make a deal for the entire herd I would consider. Not for sale individually until the others have gone:

More pictures and info on the website. Also have tons of pictures of previous kits that have been sold if interested in what they have produced. The older white ebs have produced a good number of ebs, one was super dark gorgeous girl.

Breeding 101 / Re: Is this breeder crazy?
« on: January 18, 2009, 10:57:56 PM »
Some chins get along great, some ok, and some will get along then turn on each other.  I have only had one male/female fight.  They were ok together but then one day I was cleaning the cage above them which I guess made the female upset and she flipped out and attacked the male.  She ripped up my hand while I got him out and fortunately he was ok but honestly I am kind of scared of her now and won't put her in a pair situation again.  Turned out she was pregnant at the time though.  But that male wasn't even doing anything to her when she flipped out, she must have just been aggravated at the noise or whatever from me cleaning the cage.

South East USA / Herd Reduction - lots of females
« on: January 01, 2009, 04:20:41 PM »

Since they haven’t been in breeding for a while and probably won’t for another year if ever, I NEED to reduce my herd down to single digits. Can ship or willing to drive up to 5 hours one way for gas/tolls/lunch if you purchase several or all. I have several really nice girls that I wish I could have shown and wish I could keep for my lines but it doesn't look like I'll be able to do that for some time. All have pedigrees except I need to find Hugsy's still.

Breeding 101 / Re: Extreme Mosaic?
« on: January 01, 2009, 04:15:26 PM »
I have an extreme standard, :2funny:

To produce heavily marked mosaics, you either:
a.  breed a heavily marked mosaic to a standard that resists chromosome breaking and crossing over to produce a similar looking mosaic pattern (this is also a good way to have a uniform quality herd) or
b.  breed a mosaic to a standard whose chromosomes cross over and get lucky

General Breeder Chat / Re: Sex change???
« on: January 01, 2009, 04:07:21 PM »
I have a girl I bred and when she was born I was excited both kits were female.  Well around the time she was weaned, I checked again and again because she looked different from the other females.  I finally decided she was male weaned her with some boys, even posted pics on a forum for a second opinion.  My adult boy was um pretty excited about that "boy" so I checked and checked again finally found the vaginal slit that was hiding so I was right the first time she was a female.  So she had a sex change twice, lol.

Conformation and Quality / Re: Are these chins "show quality"?
« on: January 01, 2009, 04:01:35 PM »
Show quality means different things to different people.  I definitely don't think your chins would be put off the table, they look to have pretty nice fur and decent color though that may change once under the show lights.  The pics at least have nice color esp. the beige I see so many pics of beige chins that just look gross because the color of the pics is bad or the chin is so off color. They are cute!

General Chat / Re: how to introduce a new chin
« on: January 01, 2009, 03:54:28 PM »
I guess I have a totally different opinion.  For me what works is new (or cleaned) cage plus hay plus new dust plus chins.  I do not and will not do long drawn out intros; if they don't get along from the start, I think it will just cause problems later on.  Now I've had some that I broke up within 10 minutes and then intro'd fine a different day but I've always been able to tell within 10-15 minutes, I've never had a fight from ones that were ok from the start.  Slipping fur is expected as is spraying if female, it's only serious if there is biting and standing up trying to be taller, then you have to be careful otherwise I'd wait it out a bit.  Sometimes they need to work out who's in charge and how they go about it and how long it takes varies depending on the chins.  Good luck!
