Q & A / Couple of questions on tans........
« on: June 11, 2008, 06:41:56 PM »
Hi--Can anyone tell me what color eyes a true tan would have?  Also, does their fur coloring get lighter or darker with age or does it stay the same?
                                     Thanks

Cages / Disposable pads for cages??
« on: June 11, 2008, 05:53:45 PM »
I would like to know if anyone has ever used those disposable pads in their chins cages?  You know kind of like the blue ones they use in the hospital.  You can buy them in pet stores & everywhere.  I don't mean in the actual cage itself, but in the tray underneath.  I have pull out pans on my cages.  Then, of course, I would put pine
shavings on top of it.  I think it would keep the tray very dry & not
stick like newspaper does.  Cleanup would be so easy. I was reading the package because I am concerned with any scent & such that might be harmful to them.  All it said is that there is baking soda in the pad.  Baking soda doesn't have a scent that I can smell.  Is it ok for the chinnies?  What are your opinions on using these  pads?

General Breeder Chat / Alfalfa versus Timothy Hay
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:46:35 PM »
::shrug:: OK--can anyone tell me what the main difference is on the  subject of alfalfa hay & timothy hay?  I know that some pellets are alfalfa based & some are timothy based.  So, if the one I am using is alfalfa based (and it is), should I give them timothy?  Does it matter?  Should I just give them the one they eat the best?  I know timothy hay is quite a bit more expensive..but if they should have it, I will get it for them.  Any knowledge on this subject will be appreciated.

Board Requests & questions / Picture Gallery problems?
« on: May 24, 2008, 06:29:52 PM »
I have tried throughout the day today to click onto the "gallery".
That's for pictures, right?   It changes screens, but the blank screen just stays there?  I have done this before & it worked fine.  I'll try again later, but thought it might need checking out.
                                 Thank you--JANE

Board Requests & questions / Past Posts*** Great!!
« on: May 24, 2008, 05:53:55 PM »
Hi to all who make the Chinclub possible.  I just want to say that I think this club is great!  I think I've said it before, but this time I want to say that I think it is great that posts from the past have been left on the forum.  I read the forum every chance I get & each time I do, I learn something new.  It doesn't matter how old a post is as far as I am concerned.  Everyone else probably thinks so too.  Anyways, I just felt the need to say  THANK YOU    ::clapp:: JANE

Board Requests & questions / Change photo size for avatar
« on: May 11, 2008, 05:41:04 PM »
Hi--Well, I found out what an avatar is.  Do I feel stupid--maybe.  But I always say "there are no stupid questions".  The only way to find out something, is to ask & you might get an answer.  So, if you're going to get embarassed, do it & get it over with  :blush2:.  With that said, here is my question.  How do you make a photo smaller when you are trying to choose your own photo for an avatar & the red worded warning comes up & tells you the picture is too large? I would like to choose my own, although the Chin Club provides a good selection.        Thanks--JANE ::silly::

Board Requests & questions / adding photos to website & classified
« on: May 03, 2008, 11:30:28 AM »
Hello everyone.........I am in the process of trying to finish my website:   www.chinchillas.org/pets/chinestates   It still needs lots of work (please feel free to comment on what I have done so far)  It is the free website that you get with the chinchilla club.  I am having trouble trying to figure out what to put after you insert your image link so that a picture will appear. I see where it gives you an example, but I guess I am just not filling in what it needs or putting it in the wrong order or something.   I also wold like to add a picture to the classified ads when I place a chin up for sale.  I click on browse & see my pictures, but then what is the next step?  Can anyone help me?

Board Requests & questions / Font Size/Face/ Change Color
« on: April 26, 2008, 09:42:43 AM »
It's me again!!  I'm going to learn things yet!  When you post a topic or reply to one sometimes it is nice to be able to change letters & colors, etc.  I have tried changing them, but they don't stay to what I have selected.  What is the procedure for doing this?  I know in my e-mail,when you want to this, you need to type something, then highlight it, then choose what you want, then backspace & get rid of the highlighted word & what you have chosen will stay when you begin to type.  Can someone help me with this??    :D  JANE

Board Requests & questions / Account Related Settings??
« on: April 26, 2008, 09:26:12 AM »
Hi--Is anyone else having  this problem?  I want to make some changes to my e-mail, etc. on my profile.  I go to the forum & am signed in.  Then I click on" Profile " at the top in blue area.  Then I click "Modify Profile" in the left-hand column.  Then I am suppose to click onto "Account Related Settings", but that is not one of the choices.  I don't see it, anyways. I want to be able to do this & not bug Jamie--she has enough to do.  Does anyone see this setting when they go to "Modify Profile".  If so, what am I doing wrong?
             Thanks--JANE

New Births / 3 little darling babies
« on: April 16, 2008, 06:27:56 PM »
We had 3 darling babies born on Sunday, 4-13th.  They are my first litter born from a white ebony.  There were 2 white ebonies and 1 dark if not extra dark ebony.  Sorry to say, my little dark ebony passed away last evening (2 days later). :'(  Not sure why--he seemed to have part of his upper lip missing. Need to research this area.  If anyone has ever heard of this type of thing, I would like some info on it.  I think it may have interferred with his eating.  Tried feeding him with a syringe, also.  No luck.  He weighed 42 gms. on Sunday at birth, then went down to 40gms., then 34gms. Tues. & I lost him last evening.  The other 2 are doing great & are so adorable.  Can't post any pictures, though.  I haven't learned how to do that, yet.  I'm sure they will grow up to be gorgeous.      JANE

Board Requests & questions / Business Card Maker
« on: April 10, 2008, 02:14:04 PM »
Hello--Has anyone ever used the "Business Card Maker" on the Breeders Org. section under advertising??  I have been having a problem with it.  I can't get it to change colors. (although I have done exactly what Jamie tells me to do). She has been very busy & hasn't responded to me.  Also, when I choose a logo (picture) it doesn't appear on the business card when I preview.  Another thing is the fact that the font size won't change.  I'm beginning to think it is ME--although it is pretty self explanatory.  We have purchased some colored business card quality printer paper, so the color really doesn't matter, but the rest of it won't work either.  Please HELP me

General Chat / Need help loading picture to website
« on: April 10, 2008, 02:03:40 PM »
Hi--I have been making some progress on my website.  I would like to know if anyone can help me as far as how to add a picture to my site.  It is the free website with the chinchilla club.  I know Jamie is very busy & has been unable to respond to me to help me with it.  ::cry222::: I click on image & insert.  It says if you want to upload your own picture (ex:image.jpg).  May not be exact, I don't have it right in front of me.  Anyways, I think that means to go to my photo file & put the number of the picture I want in that space.  Example: 00123 76.jpg  Correct?? Then put the url link in that you want the picture to go to in the other box.  When I preview it, all I see is a box with a red X in it.  I know you can put the size, too, but how do you know what size to put in.  Appreciate any input.   Thanks--JANE

General Chat / Is Jamie ok?
« on: March 17, 2008, 07:57:56 AM »
Does anyone know for sure if Jamie is doing ok?  I am worried, because I have tried several times & from several sources to e-mail her & have received no response at all.  Maybe she is on vacation--I hope that is all it is--she probably needs one ;).  I hope she is not sick & everyone in her family is good. She does so much for us all!!  I have been trying to work on my website & she is the only one, I know of anyways, that can help me with it.  Well, thanks--JANE
