Q & A / Baby chins
« on: June 20, 2016, 06:10:22 PM »
Is it normal for my baby chinchilla (8 weeks old) to bark inside her cage. Whenever she sees my hand in the cage, she barks. But when she smells me, she stops and tries to run out the cage. When she's playing, she doesn't bark once. Why is this?

My family is a lover of pets. I have 6 pets. First, I have a dog whose name is Champ. He is a male golden retriever who recently turned 1 years old. He's the cutest pup you'll ever meet. Next, I have 2 cats. Ones name is Mickey. He's a tuxedo black and white who is 18 and a half. My other cats name is Smooch. He's grey and 2 years old. I also have a parrot. He's a severe macaw. He's green with very colorful wings. Lastly, I have two chins. One of them is a female violet named Chilly. She is about a year old. My other chin who i recently got the other day is a female ebony who is 8 weeks old!!!! :::grins::

Q & A / Barking chin
« on: June 20, 2016, 03:05:22 PM »
Whenever i reach my hand into my baby chinchillas section of the cage, she starts barking. However, when she smells my finger, she stops and tries to come out. When she comes out to play, she never barks. Does she not feel safe in her cage? My older chinchilla ,who is 1 years old, is right above her and they don't get along yet. What could she be barking at?

General Chat / Chinchillas Keep Fighting
« on: June 20, 2016, 01:12:11 PM »
So i recently bought a new baby chinchilla for my 1 year old. My 1 year old chinchilla was very interested in the baby so i let them meet. At first she was just chasing her and jumping on her back. However, they just started barking and fighting and rolling all around. I separated them instantly. I have my older chinchilla in the upstairs part of the cage and the baby at the bottom. My 1 year old always tries to jump out of the cage but as soon as they go nose to nose through the cage, they bark and attack. This is my second day of having them & I'm hoping they will eventually get along. I think dominance is the main problem.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get them to stop fighting and be friends? How should i reintroduce them? & Why do they keep watching each other? Thank you! ;)
