it was a gift from a friend for xmas, but it looks like the 15" chin spin.

random chin thoughts : slow day at work today so naturally i was watching you tube chinchillas :P. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZkseuWT2G8 I love that little sign on the top right of the cage "Warning, spoiled rotten chinchillas live here", and the music is perfect for the happy chins, i think it was called joy, i kept thinking the mosaic one had his tail shaved to look like a gerbil for a while there, but the fur was just darker towards the base hehe.

while looking for Jo Ann's backflipping chin i stumbled upon this onehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rvHLbF8tNY seems quite talented.

along with that dust in the wheel trick, when i first got them and they still were a bit paranoid of me and nipped the hand a bit too hard, i tried the dust in cupped hands trick as well, it feels funny and they look cute playing with the dust.

anyone know why chinchillas seem fascinated with denim fabric? they seem to "dig" on it and roll around on it like it was dust bath.

just got a new wheel for Christmas for the chins, a 15" aluminum wheel, and they were terrified of it, Pip was actually shaking :(. So i took some advice from the forums and threw some dust bath in the bottom of it, and sure enough, after the bath was all out, they started using it :P

well they really seem to like it in there, and they dont seem to be eating the fabric, so i left in in for a little longer untill i can make a sturdier one, now they ripped a small "window" in the middle of the hammock along the front side of the cage (left of picture) so they can see me coming.

only one of them turned out ok, has the cage bars blocking some of it, and its a top down view, but you can see the tail and the bulge. http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/3015/hammockgy6.jpg

I was in another room one day when i heard a noise from the chin room, the usuall stuff being moved across the cage noise, and when i came over to check on em, i was greeted with the sight of a chinchilla tail sticking out of the hammock, with a bulge in the middle. Squeak had ripped the bottom layer of fabric's corner open, and crawled inside! I took a photo and made sure it was allright, i was thinking he was stuck till he turned around, stuck his head out, and went back inside. Looks like ill need a new hammock. ill post the picture when i get back home.

Quite possibly the strangest thing they have done since ive had them.

Yea, was homework for my photoshop class, we were supposed to take a picture, make it black and white, then airbrush our own colors to it. in fact my "Avatar" picture is the one i photoshopped, if you wanted to compare hehe.

The chins have changed colors without my help anyway, they used to be both a gray with dark tips, now ones solid grey and the other is pretty much all black. The black one is most people's favorite because he has the white rings around the ears, and he has "eyebrows" because the fur above the eyes is a lighter shade than the rest of him :P

Spaghetti

is that something they can even eat? its youtube so i don't trust what i see there (one lady actually had 2 videos showing her chin "swimming"  ::scaredspeachless:: the owner took the video down after many people (not so calmly) told her what she had done. anyway, just wanted to post this to see if its something i should add to my list of things they can or cannot eat
