Thanks for your replies. I guess it's a territorial thing with this little one.
I also think he does this whenever he stays too much outside the cage and he does not want to go inside peeing.

He did not do that in the last 2 days. I think he favors more my wife than me :)

Ill keep an eye on him :)

Q & A / strange behavior
« on: May 22, 2012, 03:09:12 PM »
Hello,

My chin Pufy started 2 weeks ago to pee in the room. He even wanted (and partially succeeded) to pee on my bed. I have him since December 2011 and he did  not pee outside the cage until now.

Why is he doing this? Is he trying to tell me something?

He is not peeing on the floor but only on the couch or on the bed. I see when he wants to do this because he has some kind of a "dance ritual" before peeing...

Thank you for your reply.

Q & A / Re: Need quiet?
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:41:57 AM »
sorry for the late answer but as i've observed my chin, he does not need complete quiet to sleep. I was worried at first but now i realized that my chin sleeps everywhere and anywhere he wants; even in the car or when i have friends over in the house.
Funny thing is that sometimes i try to pet him when he sleeps and he just looks at me with one eye closed and one open and then goes back to sleep.

unless the noise is sharp and loud my opinion is that he should be fine.

Q & A / Chin food and treats
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:25:59 AM »
Hello,

I am a little bit worried about my chin. I am feeding him hay and pellets and chin food from the pet store but in the last month i gave him walnuts (half or a quarter of the pulp) every night i got him back to his cage. He really loves walnuts.
The bad thing is i just read here on the forums that walnuts are a big "no go" for the chins, because of the liver problems.
My question is: what to give him as a treat now that i used him with treats?

Any idea?
Thanks

Q & A / Re: Chinchilla moods
« on: May 04, 2012, 08:18:55 AM »
Hello. My chin Pufy also does the same. usually when i get him out of the cage he plays a little, then hides and sleeps then when he wants to he comes out. Always does that and he is always playing when he wants to. I know, he trained me well.

He has his favorite place under apiece of furniture in the room and some of the days he just likes to sit there. I did not see any change in his poop or did not change his diet.

He is a spoiled chin and yes, he has his moods :)

Hey, nice little one you have :) For the name i am not the best person to ask. My wife chose the name for my chin :) But i would go with something from the comic books like Thor. I don't know if you like those kind of names.

Welcome to the community. (I am also new here)

My chin, Pufy, does that as well. He always tries to change everything in the cage. And yes, he does it only when i sleep :)

Q & A / Re: Spoiled chinchilla
« on: March 22, 2012, 07:20:37 AM »
Last night i gave him a piece of wood from a small house i got for him. i accidentally stepped on it before he could even use it so i gave him a big piece of it.
He was happy and chewed on it all night. He called 2 times but i did not go to him. After 15 min i went and pet him a little and then he was happy with his wooden "toy" till morning.

Do you think i should get him out of the cage in the morning?
My usual schedule during the week is:
- Leave home at 8:00
- Come home at 19:00 - 20:00 depending on how much i do overtime at work.

He is out of the cage from the moment i enter the apartment and till i go to sleep usually at 1:00 in the night.
I was thinking i could get him out in the morning for 30 min but i am afraid it will be too short for him.
