Cheerio is so adorable and so are yours null I hope to get a dust bath picture of Harvey very soon for all of you.  ChinsGrandma I figured out after I posted my huge picture that if you go into your photo editor you can either resize them or crop them  :)

The photos I am putting on ARE resized!!  I used the photo editor in Microsoft but they still come out big.  I think Cheerio just wants to hog all the board space, that's my theory.  Have to get a good dusty photo of her to post, she looks like Ghost Chin when she comes out of there!

::silly:: ::nono:: Please, do NOT give your chin anything that is scented.The fumes can give your chin a respiratory infection.   :'(

I have often wondered about that Jo Ann.
So many folks put baby powder and things in the dust, I put tinactin in mine. Have to admit I have used the baby powder.
But if the dust is scented, it should be safe wouldn't you think????
Though it's the first I've heard of scented dust for chins.

::silly::Hi Debbie,

     I haven't heard of it either.(scented dust bath dust) ::shrug::

     I've always been told by breeders that have been around much longer than I have, that chins can react badly to perfumes, chemical additives, and scented cleaning agents and a whole slue of other things that give off different scents.  The more chemicals you expose them to, the more we seem to find out it's a ::nono:: .  They are so delicate, I just won't take the chance of giving them something that could harm them.  :(   A friend of ours just lost a chin to a severe allergic reaction ... we still don't know what caused it. :::(((

     I use Desinex in the dust bath dust as a preventative for fungus, isn't Tinactin about the same thing?  I know it has been proven in the past that it is safe.  ::nod::

      Baby powder is often used to confuse the moms when a foster kit is introduced (it is placed on the hips and rears of all the kits - hers and the foster kit's).  All three of these have been proven as relatively safe for chins - but - I wouldn't use it, unless, I knew it had been proven by many in the past.  :::grins::  Guess I'm over protective, but, I love my chinnies.

      I've seen to many products state they are OK to use or are even made for chinchillas, then I read the ingredients and it has stuff in it that is not good for chinchillas.  (Example: corn wheels ... pet grade corn is not good for chinchillas)  Many companies do not do their research and just figure, if it is good enough for other small animals, then it's good for chinchillas ... that is so not true.  :'(    Most companies advertise to please the eyes and noses of the humans, not the pets or what would be best for the pets.
