Need help with names
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:35:44 PM »

We just recently got two new chins. We have two others who have names. Dusty and Gizmo. We are having a hard time naming these two. They are best friends and the most adorable little boys. One is black and one is a medium brown color (beige). We are trying to find names that would go together. Their previous names were Salt and Pepper but we don't find those names to be fitting or cute enough. They haven't completely warmed up to us so we really don"t have an idea on their personalities yet other than the fact that the black one is really shy right now and the beige one is quite mischievous. We were thinking Scratch and Sniff, but aren't completely sure yet.

If anyone has any ideas we would definitely take them into consideration. Names are important for our new little guys. well actually they are quite chubby right now.

We are trying to slim them down a bit, They were rescues that were going to get left to die when their owners moved.
So if anyone has advice on slimming them down (we try to have them out about 30 min a night) it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help, this site will come in handy as we raise our chins. :)

Black one should be Gadget and the other should be Col. Mustard.

Can I ask why you think they need "slimmed down"?  Chinchillas generally do not over eat.  A good diet of hay and pellets is all they need.  Cut out the treats if you think they are too big, but some chins are just larger than others.  I have a small male that is only 495 grams and a female that is over 800 grams.

These chins were rescues, they weren't kept in a chin friendly environment. They were never let out for play time. They were also fed cheerios for most of the day. When we can get them out for play time they are slightly sluggish. The black one is more sluggish. They don't run around as much as our other two. Now that they are in a cage with more room and ledges they are starting to become more active. Some chins can be healthy at a chubbier weight but these two aren't healthy at their current weight.
