Beautiful cage, a friend of mine has one. You'll have to replace the plastic shelves & ramps, but it's plenty of big for 1 or 2 chinchillas. ::nod::

Thanks! I just hope the spacing in the bars aren't too wide for him to get out of! Lol

I've been looking into Midwest's Ferret Nation and Critter Nation cages. Does anyone have experience with these and which is better???? I personally think the Critter Nation would be better for chins because it has 1/2" spacing but I can't find anywhere that lists the spacing for the Ferret Nation cage though it looks bigger then the Critter Nation BUT the Ferret Nation seems to be more widely used and cheaper. Any suggestions?

I have no suggestions, but lots and lots of empathy and sympathy!  :hugs: We have been searching for the  "perfect" habitat for two months. Although I am a pretty skillful DIY-er, my daughter refuses to let me build one,  ::). So I have been searching. I saw a beautiful, and I mean BEAUTIFUL habitat in an older pet shop. It is 5 feet tall, 30 " wide and 28 " long. It is powder coated white, with a "poo catcher" around the bottom and space for so many toys  ::highfive::! But the woman who runs the shop won't give me a firm price for one, and just says, "$400 or $500".  I am sorry, but that is a wide range of prices  ::greed:: , and she doesn't even seem to care enough to get a real price for an eager customer  >:( . I have been considering getting the name of the company that makes the cage off of it and trying to order one myself.  :::idea:::
So I feel your pain. It is really hard to find the perfect habitat for your chinbabe when it has to function as well as be attractive.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know ???

Have you tried Quality Cage Chinchilla Mansion? Their cages are the perfect spacing for chinchillas.  I own one and just ordered another. There's no chance of your chinchilla's feet getting caught in between these. Some people like the Ferret Nation, which are nice, but the Chinchilla Mansion is better suited for chinchillas because of the spacing between the bars.

quality cages are great..i had one and loved it.    if you would like one, i sell them.  for the same price, i can not go lower than they sell them for, but i'm trying to open a rescue or at least help donate to rescues so thats where the proceeds will eventually end up.

as for the FN i have a 142 and I LOVE IT...  i can't answer about the other one you mentioned tho

and deb for the fiesty ferret, do you know if bass also makes the pans for that cage like they do the fns.. i want to get one of those, but the one thing keeping me from ordering it is the plastic bottom and not knowing where to get the metal pan to replace it.

Martins cages are great too.  You can get the smaller spacing and they are all wire so no chewing, just add some ledges or a piece of thin pine board to sit on and they are great.

We have been searching for the  "perfect" habitat for two months.
That's why so many choose to make their own cages or have them made.
What works for one doesn't work for all.
