Hi
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:00:38 PM »

Hi, my name is Brad Paine Jr. I saw a chinchilla once in a Petsmart one day and chinchilla infatuation has since taken over. I have came to this forum actively seeking advice from fellow chin owners and breeders.

I hope to soon be able to join one of the chats held here and take a look and the online show as well.

If you want to know anymore about me feel free to PM me here on the forums  ;)

Til then

welcome... I would have to say personality matters so much more than color. I recomend selecting your breeder and then picking from what they have available. But take your time picking a breeders there are twice as many bad ones as good ones

I do so agree!  ::nod:: Also, it looks like you are willing to do your homework!  :::grins:: It's the little things that hurt our chinnies, warm  temperatures, wrong food, bedding, plastic. This is the place to learn, this and your vet.
I strongly urge you to find a very good vet BEFORE you find your new love. New environments can be stressful, and new owners need to have a good vet (with experience in chins) to lean on. Don't be shy about asking if the vet has real personal experience with chinchillas, and how much experience. I have had receptionists reassure me their vet was good with 'pocketpets', only to find out that vet had never even SEEN a chin! :::((( . So I called on the phone, asked strong questions, then visited the vet and asked more questions in person. If this was a human infant you would do no less, I am sure. So go out there and find your pediatrician, er, veterinarian....lol.  ::)
Good luck and I hope the chin of your dreams finds you - ours did.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know ???
