Has anyone used a hampster cage as a chin cage?
« on: September 08, 2010, 11:19:40 AM »

My friends roommate has one that isn't being used right now. I'm not sure if she is going to use it again or not. I'd take the wire out on the bottom so it would be bigger. I'd put wooden shelves in it. Not sure if it would work for a chin.

Big on size, but bigger on convenience, these cages make routine clean-ups easier than ever. Small animal cages are great for rabbits & guinea pigs and can also be used as breeder cages for puppies, kittens, and other small animals. Available in Large and X-Large.

Includes:

6.5 inches deep plastic pan
Removable bottom grille (use the grill with rabbits, remove for guinea pigs)
2 large doors (top and front)
Tubular steel stand with easy-rolling casters
The heavy-duty plastic pan is supported along the length of the cage for additional stability and can act as a urine guard if the cage is used without the bottom grille.

In my opinion, NOT big enough...I have two per cage as I would not have 1 chin alone anyway. Does not look like a bad cage, but maybe I am just biased as mine are wicked spoiled  ::silly::...will be interested to hear others comments.  ::shrug::

Unless of course it is only used for when you are cleaning or revamping their permanent big cage... ;D

Mine are spoiled also. My other cage is higher, but this one is longer.

Here is a picture of my cage now. I don't have the saucer in it anymore and the shelves are different.

and here is a link to the cage i really want. Its hard to tell from the picture if the wire is sturdy enough or not

oooohhh..I love the corner cage!! wow, now I can fit another cage in the chin room if I must! My one cage for the boys is a Super Pet ferret cage with the tubes on top and they love it. (more so than their igloo now which they don't use but only for throwing and tipping over playtime  ;D ::silly::)...I am lucky as they do not chew on the plastic, however, I have started to eliminate the plastic shelving and replace with wooden ledges I have bought from tjschinchillasupplies....HINT HINT ::silly:: :2funny: Thank You for the cage info...pretty cool!  ;)

Thanks. I really want the corner cage, but I don't have room for it right now or really the money. I made the shelves myself. I got the wood from home depot. Its easy to do and cheap.

Well, from what I've learned that one isn't big enough. They like to run and jump and climb, it looks like they would just have enough room to run in a circle.
