Can chinchilas have miscarriages???
« on: August 03, 2010, 10:23:32 AM »

I have had my male chinchilla in my female's cage since November and she hasn't had any kits.  Know, she has longer nipples and is more sleepy.  Could she of had a miscarriage and got pregnant again after the miscarriage??? ::shrug::

Just because you've had a pair together since November doesn't mean that the female has to be pregnant in that time. I've had pairs take over 2 years to get pregnant, some that have never gotten pregnant. Females CAN "miscarry", but they reabsorb the fetus, they don't actually expel it.

Just because they have been togther does not mean they have bred. Any anything that can go wrong in a human pregnancy can happen in an animals pregnancy it is all pretty much the same.
