Sqeeky Toy Sound?
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:28:48 PM »

DH said that he was watching TV today and Pikachu started making noises that sounded like a dog squeeky toy.  DH looked over and Pikachu was in his normal sleeping corner, which is facing away from DH so its not like he was begging for attention.  The dogs werent around either.  Any ideas what he was chirping about?  (and is that even what ya'll consider "chirping.")   ::shrug::

I agree with Sweetness, sounds like he was probably dreaming.

It freaked me out the first few times my chinnie did the same thing.  He made the noise, I went to peek in on him, and found him sound asleep.

I think the noise you heard was probably the sound they make when they're upset (squeaky dog toy) and want attention (or food, or something...)
Mine will do that when they're dreaming, or if I'm late to wake up and give them their treats at the usual time.

The chirp sound sounds just like a chirp.  When mine chrip I call them my little peepers!  It's so cute, because you know they want you to love them up!   ;) Usually they chirp a few times and then rapidly in succession, the noise that begs for attention.  It's soft and calm, not panicked and shrill like the 'dog toy' noise.

At least, this is my experience!

::silly::  Chinchilla sounds are often hard to describe because so many of them sound similar at first.  The circumstances surrounding the chin, at the time, often denotes the meaning for those who are not as familiar or is new at learning what each sound means.

If Pikachu was still asleep, he was probably dreaming ... but what was he dreaming about?  Should you wake him and re-assure him all is OK because he is having a bad dream ... or just let him sleep because his dreams are good ones?

Check out the different chin sounds at:  http://www.chinchilla-sounds.de/index_en.htm    I have found the ones Michael has on his site seem to be the most accurately defined.   ::nod::

:-\   Do the dogs stress your chin?  Do they bark at him?  If so, please read:  Other Family Pets Can Affect Your Chin Detrimentally at: http://www.geocities.com/jobernstein1949/  It may make you change your mind about allowing the dogs around your chins at all.

My little guy does it often when he is asleep . My dog (his big brother) runs in to check on him when he does . Then I go in and check too and he is usually sleeping . Sometimes I wake him up and give him some comfort sometimes he just looks at me like I have done lost my mind for waking him up and goes back to sleep.

::silly::   Sounds like your dog is a friend and protector to your chin.    :::grins::

I have two Great Danes.

One, Lady, is a friend, protector and playmate to my chins.   :::grins::

The other one, Raven, is younger and full of herself, she looks at everything as a toy to chew on, so she is not allowed around the chins.    :-[

Each dog is different.  Sounds like your dog may already know (by the sound the chin is making) if the it is haveing a good dream or a nightmare.  Dogs are like that sometimes.   ::nod::
