connecting two cages together
« on: February 06, 2008, 10:49:35 AM »

Hi,
I hope I put this in the right spot. But I was thinking about getting a second cage and some how have it connect to the older cage so the chins can run back and forth. I was thinking about the big plastic tubes that ferrets run in, play in, or do what ever in. So I thought I would ask you all. What to use as a connecter to the cages? Hope every one is staying warm and dry.

When I did that, I purchased the same cage as my older one. I used wire cutters to cut all of the rings off of the walls on the sides I wanted to connect. I ordered some c-rings and the c-ring pliers and connected the cages together making one really long one. I have never seen any of those plastic tunnels that I would be comfortable letting my chins try to squeeze through.

I once used pop bottles to make a run out one side of a cage and into the other.LOL
I cut the bottoms and tops out and taped them together.
Not a good idea for connecting them though.
If the tubes your are refering to are the hard plastic they should be fine. I like those because you can see through them.
You can always use ABS pipe, most chins can't/don't chew them much.
I use heavy crafters wire to wire items on cages, that might help attach the tubing.
Just some thoughts :::grins::

Hi,
Cool, I will look into that. I was thinking something like the abs pipes would work. Did you drill holes in it, so if the chin goes to sleep in it it wont die from it's heat? Thanks Shannon
