Super Pet Care Complete Chinchilla Home

Super
two solid-surfaced Safety Ramps and two adjustable Comfort Shelves. The baked epoxy wire is very durable, and the sturdy deep base helps prevent the scattering of litter outside the cage.

I would give this product a five star rating if it were not for it's small size. The attached bath is a nice convience and comes with a "bubble plug" to cover the opening when not in use. For the most part, Super pet makes wonderful products if you use them how they were intended to be used. If you like this cage but feel it is too small have a look at a similair Super pet model: The multi-story ferret home. This is a nice big cage with nine adjustable shelfs. You have the option of adding the attached bath as all Super Pet products are compatible. To do this you have to purchase a "passageway connector," "bubble plug," and of course the batyh house itself.

I have this kind of cage for my chinchillas. The chins don't seem to mind, and it seems big enough, but what is especially annoying about this cage is how hard it is to maintain. Instead of simply pulling out a litter pan from the bottom, with this type of cage you must remove the entire base, dump it into a bag, and remove shelves and clean them seperately. With a better-designed cage this is much easier. Another thing is that chinchilla poop will collect on the shelves and when the chinchillas run they will scatter it all over the floor.

Sorry, but I would not reccomend this to anyone for a chinchilla ... I feel it is not big enough. The chin bath house is there constantly ... allowing the chin to urinate in it, possibly causing a bacterial problem. The bathouse, shelves, ramps and floor are made of plastic ... I have read to many places that plastic that is chewed and swallowed by a chinchilla can cause major problems in the digestive system. Chins will chew and eat anything their little teeth will let them. I think chinchilla dust works much better than chinchilla sand.
