A Chinchilla Story
We are Bill and Jeri Pollett of Branson, Mo. We got our beautiful Chin Oct. 7th, 2002 from the pet shop about 40 minutes away from us. My husband and I had a dog of 16 years, and we had to put her to sleep about 3 years ago, anyway, my husband got transferred to Arkansas for his job, so that left me in Branson, to try and sell our house, and work etc.....We had never been separated before so it was very hard for me to even come home at night from work, as the house was very quite, and lonely. We said we would never get another pet, as it was just too heart breaking for us. Bill and I took turns driving back and forth to each other every weekend, but during the week, well let me tell you, it was sad. I was so lonely and I cried a lot so on the weekend of Oct 7th. Bill was home for the weekend and we decided to go to the pet store just to kill time and look around. We had never seen a Chinchilla before and so when we saw our " Bo Diddley " he just won our hearts. He was frightened at first, I suppose from all the different people wanting to hold them etc..... We walked around the store and kept going back to the cage he and a grey were in. They told us he was a silver, but later we found out he is a white mosaic. Anyway, I looked at him and he looked at me and I just knew I could not leave that store with out him, so with that in mind we went shopping for all the things he needed, a large cage, food, dust etc...... When we left the pet shop my heart was just so full of love for that little boy, and it grows more each day, I just don’t know what we would do without him. Bo will be 1 year old on July 4th. and let me tell you, he has filled the void in our hearts 100%. Bo fits right into our work schedule as he is active in early mornings and late in the evening when we get home from work. It is such a pleasure to come home now as the house is not empty and I know I have someone waiting for me. We turned our spare bedroom into a play room for us and Bo. My husband has built him many things to climb on and jump into, and he is so smart. He has been the best money ever spent and I know everyone out there who has chins will agree with us. Some day we just might get Bo a friend to keep him company but for now he will have to be satisfied with us. LOL. I could go on and on but it is time to give someone else a chance to write about their family member so until the next time, hope everyone has a great day and a great big pat for all of your chins.
