The Truth about Rope

After dropping in on many online discussions groups (to get an idea what people were looking for in chinchilla toys) I noticed a trend. Someone would ask "What toys are safe for my chinchilla" or "Can I use Bird Toys for my chinchilla" and almost every time the response came through saying "Stay away from all Ropes!". Well, being a toy manufacturer I had to check into this "All ropes are bad" rumor. I talked to chinchilla rescues, world renowned breeders and loving pet owners. After much time and research I discovered the truth. Not all ropes are created equal! It is true that many ropes can be dangerous for your chinchilla such as synthetic and cotton ropes. Due to their nature, these ropes do not break up when chewed and if swallowed can cause deadly intestinal tangles. However, sisal rope is safe. Sisal can be chewed and digested, not posing any threat to the chinchillas digestive tract. Another safe rope is seagrass rope. It has an almost papery texture to it and chinchillas just love the salty flavor. Both of these ropes can be chewed and consumed without any danger to your chinchillas health. So now you know the facts, not just the rumors about rope. When choosing a toy for your chin always remember: Say No to cotton and synthetics, they can be very dangerous! Say Yes to sisal and seagrass, they make great safe toys and your chins will love them!
