My chinchilla drools but it's not her teeth
« on: September 23, 2017, 05:30:12 PM »

I have 4 chinchillas only 1 Baylee has to have her teeth trimmed because she won't chew on pumice.  She has drool under her chin, I find small drops of drool on her wood shelves maybe 2 or 3 spots a day. She has had her teeth filed, teeth x-rayed and no malclusion. She is just turning 10 tomorrow. She won't really chew on anything ..tiny willow ball, thin organic apple sticks... No one can figure out what is wrong. Her poop is more brown than black, more round than elongated....I have had her since she was 3 months old.
My other chins are Charlotte who is 11 a big girl super healthy has her own cage
Mimi and Tinkerbelle 9 years old and live together & Baylee has her own cage.
All the other chins chew like crazy
Baylee just sits hunched over a lot..
Do you think it could be a digestive issue?

It's probably teeth considering the history of malocclusion. Digestion is severely effected by anorexia. You may need to hand feed. Dental malocclusion is usually a terminal disease I'm sorry to say. I think you should discuss this with your veterinarian and make some judgment calls. Be very careful that her health does not deteriorate where it endangers your other chins.
