Water deprivation

Realised today that my chinchilla's water bottle wasn't working. I guess it's been blocked since I refilled it about 36 hours ago.
He's now trying to drink loads, I'm wondering should I let him self regulate how much he drinks or give him little bits?  Is just be worried about the guzzling hurting his little tummy.
He seems active and his usual self apart from desperately trying to drink all the water. It's not that warm or humid.
Appreciate advice, thanks :-)

I think you're okay to let him self regulate. It's not particularly uncommon. It's always a good idea to check that your water bottles dispense at least once a day. Personally I like to actually measure the water. You can do this with a rubber band wrapped around the bottle and move it down each morning.
Make sure he's eating and pooping okay for the next couple of days. You're probably going to see some fluctuations there. The good news is chinchillas are desert creatures and can cope with this kind of problem fairly well.
Normal vacuum type water bottles can stop up with changes in temperature and even barometric pressure and they should be checked daily.

just monitor your chin. They are often fine since it wasnt a long duration that he was without water.
