Guilt over considering a new furry companion?
« on: January 09, 2012, 04:17:11 PM »

Hey guys, it's been such a long time since I've posted! With my poor Delilah and her health issues, I spend most of my time trying new remedies for her. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys have ever felt guilty over considering adopting another critter. I'm considering a puppy, a guinea pig (If I'm no longer allergic) or a rabbit. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE my 'Lilah girl (my grey female Chinchilla) she's got such a funny little personality and wins hearts wherever she goes. But she isn't very cuddly, she makes a funny little gremlin growl just when I have to grab her to place her in her travel cage to clean her main cage. I don't want her to feel like I've replaced her or I don't love her, especially when I spend time with the new animal. Did you guys ever go through this? How did it work out and did you end up getting the new pet?

no i never have.  i have 9 pets, and i love them all.  there is much room in our hearts to love more than one pet.. expand your family and don't feel quilty.. you are still going to love Delilah as much as you do now :)

Just be sure to treat them with equal affection.

And introduce the new pet slowly to give her time to adjust to a new family member.
