Some problems with a newborn chinnie :/

This morning my lil' chinnie gave birth to two adorable kits.

 Sadly, one of them died  ::cry222:::


The other one (Baniute) weights 35grams and is kinda aborted, her legs are still bare and she still hadn't open her eyes  :( 
She squeeks, drinks her mommys milk and is a healthy chin, but i'm very concerned about her eyes  :-\

Is it normal?  :(

I was told by the breeder I got my male from that it is very important that they open their eyes so they can find their mother if they need to. She said to open their eyes with luke warm water on a cloth. I personally would boil a kettle and wait for it to cool down so it's sterile, but make sure it really isn't hot, babies are very sensitive. I'm sorry about the one that died, but I wish you all the best for the other one.

Yes, it is important to get her eyes open.  You can also use a q-tip and warm water.  The muscles in the eyes will atrophy and it will damage her vision if they are not opened soon.

It's third day since she born and her eyes are still closed  :-[ I'm going to use your advice, thanks a lot  :-\

Sadly, she's loosing weight, what to do??


It's the first time when I have problems with newborn, it's very stressing  :'(

It's possible since she is a premie that the mother is not producing milk yet.

You need to start hand-feeding the baby.  You can use KMR kitten milk replacer and an eye dropper.  There is a very good video at Luvnchins.com that will show you how to feed her.  You will need to feed her every two hours round the clock, and weigh her twice a day.

Thanks a lot for your advice and help.


Yesterday I opened her eyes, but her mother repudiated her, so I started to hand-feed her. I got up every two hours in the night, and she started to look fine, but this morning, suddenly she just died.   ::cry222:::


It was terrible, I cried the whole day  :'(




Will mother chin be fine?

I'm so sorry!  I know how hard it is to lose a baby.  She probably had something wrong internally.  That's why mom rejected her.  They can sense when a baby is not going to survive...

I would watch Mom's weight and make sure she is eating and drinking properly.  She should be fine.  If she starts to lose weight (anything more than 5% of her total body weight) take her to the vet immediately.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss!  Just try to take comfort that you did the best you could for her, and she was loved in her short time here.
