General Chat / Re: A Hidey House for Chins
« on: February 25, 2014, 09:17:16 PM »
Yeah this is a full on rescue that a family started and it is wonderful. I will most likely be getting a ferret nation cage 2 story or a modified 3 depends on the money they said they have many young chins since people get them and don't think of how much work it is. Also it is a private rescue u have to have appointments to come and adopt, this is because there rescue is there house. Don't blame them :2funny: you can buy a fully outfitted cage from them but they don't ship which kinda sucks but I guess I will get the cage when I come and get the chins and they have a friend finder were they find chinchillas that seem compatible and see if they bond but they have to have your babies for up to a week or more.

General Chat / A Hidey House for Chins

Ok I am new hear and very grateful I found this place, I will most likely be getting a pair of chins in May sometime. I am wondering if I have to get a house for the cage or  I was going to get 2 hammocks for them, will that work or should I  get a little home for them. Just so all people know I have wanted a chinchilla for the last 2 year and done research ever since and still learning new things. Just wondering since I was told on they need a hiding place  ::)

Q & A / Re: How do I get my chinchilla to cuddle me?
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:36:58 PM »
I must say to be nice about this for the most part chin don't like to snuggle for hours like dogs they are very active animal when young and the 2 I have are a 9 month old and a 3 year old the three year old one like to cuddle during the day but not in my lap usually mostly on the computer desk were I keep a bundle of fleece so I can work and she can have a place to sleep. Long story short some chin just don't like to be held and restrained, they are like humans different personalities and emotions. A good way to think of it is that chins are in the evening a person that just slept for 12 hours and drank 15 shots of strongest coffee in the world, would u like to be told to go back to sleep. It is just the type of chin u have the key thing is PATIENCE.
But with what u have told me is your chin is in a very loving home and will warm up to cuddles soon maybe

Q & A / Re: Winter temperatures
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:24:45 PM »
I am guessing u will use some power and tv ect. In the winter I have these 10 dollar fan heaters that I bought 3 of and place around the room and kept a thermometer in there near the cage and when the temp drops to my limit I turn them on for 30 minutes it get warm I know there safe.
