General Chat / Chinchilla food HELP PLEASE
« on: May 28, 2014, 04:52:55 PM »
Hello people out there I will be getting my chinchilla in about a month or so and the places I can get a little bit of food is not cheap on the web the Purina Rabbit chow show mix is for a 5lb bag is 4.50$ and with shipping around 14.50$, not cheap for a weeee bit of food but I can go the a store around were I live the Tractor Supply Co. sells the same mix in 50lb bags for 19.49$ but the store were I live doesn't supply that mix they only have the Purina Rabbit Chow Complete mix (I will have all the links for stuff in the bottom) and its around the same price i was just wondering if Purina Rabbit Chow Complete mix food was ok for chins or should I just pay more for the show mix.

Purina Rabbit Chow Show link: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/rabbit-chowtrade%3B-show-formula-natural-advantedgereg%3B-formula-rabbit-feed-50-lb#desc-tab

Purina Rabbit Chow Complete link: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/purinareg%3B-rabbit-chowtrade%3B-complete-natural-advantedgetrade%3B-rabbit-food-50-lb

and the place I can get the 5lb bag it from TJ's chinchilla supplies and he is not very reliable, sometimes he won't take orders for a month and the 5 lb bag might last me a little bit but I don't really know so getting the big bag of 50lb would be nice and the complete mix comes in a 25lb bag to but again the store is out of stock and probably won't ever get it so ehh.

Now in Tj's store u have to scroll down a bit to get to the show mix food

TJ's store link: http://www.tjschinchillasupplies.com/chinchillafood.html

if u could give me an answer if the complete food is safe or not that would be nice and a before thank you for answering.

Could get a pic of this. I don't have the money to buy a 600 dollar free standing ac unit so I thought about making a couple of these to help with my home ac.  (My room gets hot even when the ac is on)

The moisture in any vegetable is deadly and can kill my advise is never feed a chin fresh vegetables bad for health. Save the vegetables for guinea pigs

General Chat / Heating/cooling problems. HELP
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:24:22 PM »
Since the summer is soon coming and the temp is going up a little which is good my room where I am planning to put my chinchillas has very fluctuating temperatures because the sun is always on my room the entire day so I am pretty sure it can reach up to 80 which is not ideal but the only way to not let it get that hot is leave my door open and were I am gone all day and have 2 dogs I don't want them to pester the chins and just need some help with some ideas. The reason the ac doesn't turn on is the thermostat is in the middle of the house so the temp barely changes so it never turns on.

Also I have a good size room but it has a computer tv and a night stand and 2 dresser that have about 3 inch gaps  also a queen bed . I don't want the chins chewing the cord to my computer and stuff and I don't want him under things and behind my computer and things would it be easier to just play in the bathroom ( not really big) or rig some cardboard or wood up so they can't get in trouble ( they always in trouble no no no chins are trouble) just couldn't help myself, but just give me some help and if u need pics just say so and I will post some. The cage I might be getting is a ferret nation 2 level cage already fixed up ( not used, just fixed up like shelves toys ect) with 2 chins I think that will be plenty.

So if u could just get back to me as soon as possible that would be excellent

This will not answer your question but if I came to get my animals and one was died and my chinchillas were fighting for food i would be at a new type  of angry and probably not talk to my sister for a while and probably never forgive her and i am sorry for the lose of your bird i know how hard it is to lose and animal that you love
