New Births / Twins! (Born 2/23)
« on: February 23, 2007, 05:34:13 PM »
Although I had a slight inclination that Avra was pregnant, I certainly didn't think that she was even close to being ready to deliver!  Needless to say, these babies came as a surprise this morning...

Both Black Velvets, both (appear to be) boys, but T08 is the smaller of the two at only 44 grams.  T09 clearly hogged all of the nutrients in the womb and is starting off at 62 grams.

Chit Chat / Make Mine Chocolate
« on: February 21, 2007, 11:27:18 PM »

"Each year, unwanted, former Easter rabbits fill local rabbit rescues and humane societies. The goal of the 'Make Mine Chocolate!™' campaign is to break the cycle of acquisition and relinquishment by educating the public about the responsibilities involved in keeping a companion rabbit before a rabbit is brought home."

South West USA / California Delivery on 2/24/07
« on: February 21, 2007, 10:42:49 PM »
This is your last opportunity to have one of my chinchillas delivered to California for a highly reduced fee!   :::grins::  I have a 7 week old Standard female, a 6 week old Dark Ebony female, a 6 week old Dark Ebony male, and a 4 year old Dark Ebony male whose mate recently passed away.  :'(  I don't have another female to put him with, unfortunately.

I'll be in Palm Springs on Saturday morning.  From there, chinchillas can be transported to San Diego, Los Angeles, and all the way north to San Jose.  I will need to receive payment (via PayPal) by Friday in order to include more chinchillas in my transportation plans.  Please feel free to email me at info@chinchillaz.org if you have any questions.   :)

Chit Chat / Snow in Arizona!
« on: January 21, 2007, 11:00:40 PM »
I know that it snows all over the country (and in other countries) on a regular basis, but it isn't a norm in these parts of Arizona.  It hasn't snowed as much as it did today in several years!  It was absolutely gorgeous and, as soon as I was off of work and had the opportunity, I had to capture some images to help my memory in years to come.

One of my favorites is the image of the paw prints in the snow.  To me, it demonstrates the perserverance of but also the devistation of stray animals.  Imagine how difficult it would be to be homeless (whether you're an animal or a person) at this time of year.

The other image is another of my favorites because it is so unique.

New Births / Triplets! (Born 1/18)
« on: January 18, 2007, 08:11:16 PM »
Delilah and Kuma welcomed their first litter into the world just before noon today!  All of the kits are dark ebonies and, although I may be a bit biased, absolutely gorgeous.  I'm really going to be over-run with dark ebonies when Bonnie and Delilah's babies are weaned in couple months.   :o

T05 and T06 appear to be males and T07 appears to be a female.  T05 weighs 46 grams and T06 and T07 both weigh 47 grams.  T07 is INCREDIBLY active already and really hates to sit still.  Momma's got her hands full with these little ones!

Bonnie delivered two dark ebony kits this morning.  One appears to be a girl and one a boy.  That may be the only way I'm able to tell them apart.   ;D

New Births / Twins! (Born 1/8)
« on: January 08, 2007, 10:29:54 PM »
Mabel gave birth to her third litter today.  I knew she was pregnant, but I didn't realize she was ready to give birth already.   :::grins::

T01 appears to be a female and is either a Mosaic (possibly TOV) or a Standard.  Time will tell.

T02 appears to also be a female and is likely a Black Velvet.

New Births / Look what I found!
« on: November 07, 2006, 12:05:40 AM »

S15 SURPRISE!

I didn't even know that she was pregnant, so I was very surprised when I came home, started feeding the chinchillas, and saw a tail sticking out from under Avra!  I'm inclined to say this is a little Standard, but the back and ears are rather dark and there are some slight lines on the face that I tend to see in Black Velvet babies, so I may change my mind about the coloring as the baby grows.

General Chat / Littlest Pet Shop - Chinchilla with Cage
« on: October 20, 2006, 10:28:27 AM »
Has anyone seen these?  I was looking on eBay last night for chinchilla related items and came across these...

My cousins love my chinchillas and ask about them all the time.
The conversation generally goes like this:
"Have any of your chinchillas had babies recently?"
"Yes.  Henna just had two babies last week."
"Who is Henna with again?"
"Harold."
"Oh!  I remember him.  And what color are the babies?"
Etc.

I thought that they would get a kick out of these, even though they're 10 years old.  I mean, I'm 28 and I wanted one for myself!   ;D

I'm always looking for suggestions on how I can improve The CHINformation Organization.  Any opinions on how I can make the site as wonderful as possible?
