General Chat / Switched Chinnies room...good or bad?
« on: March 11, 2010, 12:55:02 AM »
Please help!
I am feeling really guilty. I just recently moved my 2 male chinnies I have had for 3 months to a different room in the house I live in from my bedroom they were in before. Is this not recommended?  They are so noisy at night  ::pull hair:: tossing the things in their cage, jumping about and making noises. They are 9 months old now and I have had them for 3 months in my bedroom with me.  But after (just recently) 3 nights straight with NO sleep, I cannot endure it much longer.  Do you think they will become less friendly or shy away from me, maybe affect the bonding we already have? A new cage (much larger) is coming this week that I custom ordered for them. They needed a better cage. Maybe this will help as well??? Any suggestions? Move them back into my bedroom? What to do? I love them  ::kiss99:: so much it kills me   ::sadtears:: to not have them with me at night. I have no children or other pets and live with 4 other adult girls in the house who like to give them attention too. They are in the dining/kitchen area now and get attention still. Also, they get out of their cage for an hour every evening except sundays. Please suggest.... ::confused::

Q & A / Cage bar chewing
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:06:45 AM »
Okay, my 2 boys are driving me crazy! As soon as my lights go out at night, they start up with chewing on the cage bars! Along with "digging" into the wooden floor I made them to rest ontop of the wire mesh on the iside of their cage. Nibbles continually "digs" in the corner and chews on the cage bars everywhere like he's trying to get out. Makes me feel like a bad chinnie mom.  :( Also moves around all the "furniture" in his cage. Both are getting along really well, and have playtime out of their cage everynight for an hour. Is this normal? I got wood hanging from a bar in there, lava bites, wood pieces, and their shelves and hut made of wood to chew on.  Whats up? They bored? Should I get a wheel? Any ideas? Please help..

Q & A / Ears folded down?
« on: January 19, 2010, 11:36:44 AM »
Had my 2 male chins together since birth from the breeder.  Sometimes their ears are folded down, almost like they are cold or scared.  Usually they both have them down @ the same time. I have a  digital thermometer/humidity display next to their cage. Usually it runs @ 66* farenheit with humidity level around 60%. I know that by adding humid. and temp to keep it lower than 150. But could it be that they are just cold? Knowing their ears are how they control their temp, could this be whats happening?  No customary squeaks or vocalizations when I reach into the cage to hold them when they are like this. Any ideas? -  New Chin Mom  ::think::

General Chat / anyone have 2 males who share a cage?
« on: January 13, 2010, 01:40:17 AM »
I have an embarrassing question.  I just got 2 cute 6 month old males who have been "cage mates" since birth.  They are now in my loving home and doing well together. One problem: each seems to try and hump one another, is this normal? Neither show to be the dominant one, as both equally try to mount the other.  I know both are definately males, as I have checked for hair rings already.  What to do? Discourage and try to stop them when they try? Please help......
