Health / Re: Broken Leg

How does your chinchilla manage to break his legs? I've seen this post on another forum previously. Have you had your chinchilla examined by a vet in the time between posting here and on the other forum?

Q & A / Re: Can Chins have hemp seed?

No, please do not give your chinchilla any type of seed. Chinchillas cannot process fat which seeds are high in and fatty liver disease and death may ensue.

Don't use one. They are really not necessary. Plastic should never be given to chinchillas in any form and the wheel size you quote is far too small. Providing a wheel that is too small can result in scoliosis, so please don't.

Glad that all is well ref teeth. Try reducing the amount of baths to either one per week or two very short ones per week and see if this makes any difference. What examinations/tests has your chinchilla undergone ref this eye issue?

Hi,
In the first instance, has your chinchilla been x-rayed to rule out any dental issues? Is your chinchilla eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally? Is your chinchilla readily eating hay? What type of bathing dust are you using and how frequently are you offering the bath?

What type of bathing dust are you using? How often are your offering her bath? Does she have a bath to herself or does she share one? Do you leave the bath in all the time?

Do your chins have access to good quality Hay at all times?

Firstly, is there any particular reason why you are taking your chinchillas to the vet? Vet visits cause stress and are really not necessary unless there is a health issue. Have there been any behaviour changes regarding your female? It she eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally. Do you house her with your male? Is your male neutered? The more information you give, the easier it may be to help.
