Mine like shredded wheat but usually I need to take a bite and make a big deal about it and chomp loudly and it occurs to them
I know what you mean about the clothes. Raisin hops on my back when I am leaning in cleaning her cage, and one day before I know it, I felt her pulling on something, pretty soon, she chewed my bra strap in half. She did it fast to, because I was trying to reach her and pluck her up, but she kept dodging me.
But they are sweet little furry dumplings...
 Although Raisin isn't a hands on girl, and does not like to be picked up, just LOVES having her arm pits tickled.  Her 'arms' will fly straight out like we are now engaged in a game of 'airplane', and she silently pleads with me... "tickle arm pits Mom -- tickle my pits!!!". Her eyes closes and she throws her head back in chin estacy.....

Awwwww.  I bet your Raisin likes raisins too....
..... we are in sync.  Our other chin is named Daisy, but we nicknamed her 'Curly Butt' years ago due to her completely curled up piggy tail, and the fact that her backside sticks up as though her tail was put on upside down.

GrayRodent is right, you can tell by the opening of her "privates."  Mine, when in heat, also get cranky and don't like to deal with each other.

I have two chins and they have grooming problems with each other.  I don't know if it is on purpose, however, I've gone in and both chins are 'whiskerless', or one side is gone on one or extremely uneven. This happens often!!!!!
I first freaked out, but as they get older, they seem to have gotten over trying to make each other look silly..

Raisins are great from the grocery store, but when you starting adding, I dunno, dried banana chips, papaya, dried apples, buy the ones specifically made for chinchillas - they somehow pull out some of the sugar, because dried chinny banana chips taste ... bad... but chinnies love them. Definately, no citrus food, like Lilchinchilla mentioned, it causes tummy problems - bloats the little guys up.  Go to www.rondaschins.com and look under treats, they have a great selection of healthy stuff and she is very reasonable.

I agree with the pellets to begin with. Need a name brand like what was suggested - Mazuri and hay is really important since that is a staple with them. Third cut timothy hay is the best you can get when in season. Go to www.kmshayloft.com. Their hay is top quality. You may want to add supplements to their pellets and foods that are high in c like rose hips. Blue Cloud, like one of your reads suggests, is good quality and change it often - you can tell when it is dirty... it starts looking grainy, and unfortunately, has poop in it.....
And, also, make sure their 'poop' is hard, about 1/4 to 1/2 long (not round and soft - that's a vet issue).
But always, a vet visit can never hurt.

I have two five year olds. Mine are quiet with me. Apparently, they have nothing to say to me. They don't talk to me, but one, when picked up, does not like to be picked up and screams, what I assume, is chinchilla swearing. She does the 'uhhhhh' and 'eeeeeekkkk" and really obviously grunts, and has never ever bit me. Doesn't last long and when I put her down, she doesn't run away, just gives me this........ well...look. They are both happy and healthy and make noises sometimes when they are playing, but it is play that I am not included in,  and they even do their 'happy' dance (where they jump straight up in the air and twitch). I don't think there is anything wrong. Your's must be happy and has no complaints and feels content

You know, I was leaning towards to Critter Nation, now especially, I didn't realize FN's shelves were plastic... The plastic would have to be removed and replaced since everything that goes in the Girls' mouth well .. pretty much, never comes out.....!!

Cages / HELP! Ferret Nation Double OR Midwest Critter Nation Double

With a lot of help from the friendly folk here, I have narrowed it down to either
a Ferrett Nation Double size or Midwell Critter Nation Double size
(the 36 x 30 x 60 or [62] depending.)

I have a 5' Martins Cage, but I've had for five years and I want heavy duty ~
and I am SO tired of listening to my little Daisy constantly chirping at me about how she needs her personal space from her sister....
(slightly exaggerated for dramatic effect...)

So...who has either and which one is the best???

I have two chins.  They used to be 'not so well' with the grooming thing. I came in one morning to two whiskerless chins. They were sitting there, watching me, looking a wee bit embarassed...  "who lost the bet?"  Nice look.. aren't you two proud of yourself...? 

I kiss their little faces, can't help myself. Raisin actually braces herself so I won't knock her down when I smack her right on her little nose. I made the mistake of letting her sniff my eyelashes. She tried to 'de-whisker' me. Actually, she did.
I will be in the middle of sweeping the ledges for, as my husband puts it, the sprinkles, and Daisy will decide she doesn't want to move. I try to sweep around her and she always does the 'talk to my hand' thing, continually slapping me away. She pulled this the other day, I plucked her up, took her out of the cage and, put my face on her fuzzy little belly and made a rasberry noise.  She looked at me, I could read her expression -- "Proud of yourself?"  I certainly was.

I thought about making my own - I make the ledges.. over and over.., since my girls seems to think that piddling on my new ledges is really really fun..... lazy furballs.  I'll ask Curlybutt "Must you??? I just made that?"  She calmy looks at me, wipes her mouth with the back of her hand and proceeds to clean her whiskers...

I thought about buying a completely empty ferret nation and being creative....?

I sure wish I know how to make them quite piddling on my ledges, but it's been five years, 'me thinketh' it is too late..

HI!!

I have two chins also.  I purchase my Timothy hay on line, and it's a LOT better quality, and third cut timothy hay is the cat's meow as are as chins are concerned. It favors the easter grass you put in kids baskets. It's great. You buy it in bulk and lasts fine, as long as you keep it dry.
I blue the lava dust (blue cloud) on line in bulk too in 15 to 20 pound boxes, s&h are thrown in. It's a lot cheaper that way. Muzuri pellets are the best for them, you can buy them in bulk. I buy all wood chews, whirlies, toys, pumice stone,  'chew toy activities' all on line. I don't know if I am allowed to give you all the websites on here, but if you email me at crazy4chins@gmail.com, I will be more than happy to share and will give you all the great places to order!!  (all trustworthy!! been ordering a long time).

I am a chin veteran and spoiling will run you into some $$, but you can learn where to shop in bulk. They get bored so I spoil.
