Happy Birthday Billy. I miss your sweet love and all the fun that we had together. You were the one out of my decades of chinchillas that was the special one. You taught me a lot on how to care for your kind and I have after you, so others would have the love and care you did. Every night during chin play time, I remember you running around the room like a wild man, and then going up the steps to your cage and waiting for me to close the door. I have dearly loved all since your passing, but you will always be the number one.

Today (August 5th) would have been Billy's Birthday, and I thought about his sweet love that he gave me for the years that he was here. I miss having him so much. I have had many chins since Billy, but there is always that special one. In answer to my last two posts, I saved the fur mentioned in the poem in a glass frame with the pieces of fur noted which they are. Now, when ever I comb one of my chins, I take the fur out of the comb and put it in their jar. I have a little jar for each chin. I do have a flat piece of clay with his front and back foot prints and his name on it. The clay foot prints are a great idea, but break very easy. Happy Birthday, Billy, I love you.

I read what you wrote again and thought I do the same thing. After every good combing, I put the fur in a glass jar so that you can see the color and the fur. When the chin passed, I have a whole jar of fur to look at and remember him by. I use to do the snips of fur in little clear bags, but now I like the larger jar and I have so much more of him.

I am so sorry to hear about Willow, and you are right, it never gets any easier. Willow had a wonderful loving home for 11 years, and I hope that gives you some comfort. It takes a lot of strength to do what you did for her, and I know how painful it can be. She is at the Rainbow Bridge now, and will be waiting for you.

Thanks Courtney, I am glad that you liked the poem. I am so sorry to hear about Peeps, but I am sure he was very greatful to have you to care for him after he lost his parents. What happened to him?

You can call Oxbow on the 800 number (go to Oxbow on line for the number) and when you talk to a person at Oxbow, you can have them ship it super fast delivery. I get stuff from them all the time. They are very good at getting it to your front door. Also, Oxbow now has prefered provider stores (pet stores that carry their products) and that store can order it even if they don't carry it. The fastest way would be to buy it from your vet, or another vet in your area.

WOW Kristy, it certainly sounds like you are the one doing the bashing or should I say you and your friends that are making fun of this person. I don't know any one that has a neglected chinchilla as all the chin people that I know go to the shows and their chins are beautiful and very well cared for, as every one at the shows can see.

For Lindy Lu and 1 chin mom, you can get paper that is light blue with clouds on it at Kindos to print the poem on and it makes it very special.
The necropsie that I had done was done that day and some labs were sent off to other states and came back in two weeks. This was not done on Billy but another chin that I had pass suddenly.

I am so glad that you are trying to save this chin's leg if possible. I know one person that has chins, and if the chin breaks a back leg, she just cuts it off herself. No trips to the vet. She has more than enough money to go to a vet, but just doesn't want to spend it on the chin I guess.

Yes you are right. If you enter different chins that is OK as all the chins need a chance. I just think people enter the same chin over and over that it keeps other people that haven't won from having a chance. The show is suppose to be fun for all pet owners, not hogged by one or two. The professional breeders can always out do the pet owners with one or two chins, but that isn't very good sports man's ship. Everybody's chin should have a chance.

I hope more people enter and vote on the on line shows as it looks like the same people enter and win every time. Sometimes entering the same chin in the very next show. I think it would be fun for all if all members of the chin club had a chance at winning. It is a great feeling to win and all should have a chance to feel good.

I am so sorry to hear about Punkin as he was Mocha"s other half. It sounds like a terrible accident.  I know Mocha passed away at a young age, but I hope that Punkin left you with some of his beautiful chinchildren. I know what a wonderful chin mom you are and what a good life he must of had, with the best care. We have all learned to love Punkin from all of his pictures, but I know you carry the greatest amount of pain.  You still have the pain of Mocha, but remember they are together again. Joann, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your post 1 new chin mom. I hope the poem helped some, but it takes time to learn to deal with it. However, you never forget. The fond memories as well as the pain will always be there.
