Title: Baby chins
Post by: chinchillalover101 on June 20, 2016, 06:10:22 PM
Is it normal for my baby chinchilla (8 weeks old) to bark inside her cage. Whenever she sees my hand in the cage, she barks. But when she smells me, she stops and tries to run out the cage. When she's playing, she doesn't bark once. Why is this?

I don't know. I've never seen a chin do that before. 8 weeks is pretty young. (Not saying that is not weaning age. But some chins seem to be a little needier than others) I hope it wasn't weaned before it was ready. I do expect it will quiet down as she gets more acquainted with her new cage setup.

When i take her to play in the bathroom, she isn't skittish or anything. She jumps all over me in fact she acts exactly just like my other one. Not really sure what it is

Your kit shouldnt have play time till she is over 6 months. Kits can not regulate body temp or blood sugar. They need small spaces till they mature
