his tail was previously a bit injured, missing some fur. Now, the missing fur section is much bigger, and sometimes it is bleeding. I think he's been chewing on it, ripping out the hairs. What's up?
-
smacks forehead. nevermind I just figured it out. Vet gave me this anti inflamatory cream for his tail. Just now, I forgot to put the cap back on and he was all like yum yum. ... sometimes, popsicle is such a dum dum... sigh... better get a less tasty brand of cream for his tail...
-
Wow. He ate his own tail? That's remarkable!
-
He didn't eat his own tail... just chewed on it to the point it had bald patches and was bleeding. :(
-
That's awful. What is wrong with his tail?
-
I think initially it was my fault for stepping on his tail when he snuck up behind me. I THINK it was his tail, I know I stepped on his something, and then when I checked on him his tail had a big bald patch on it. I think fur slip occured.
Anyhow, brought him to vet, vet gave anti inflamatory cream cause it looked like popsicle was nibbling on the bald spot.
Ho well... stopped using the cream, hoping the fur grows back eventually...
-
Oh well. Accidents happen. You wouldn't be the first one! From what I understand it will take months to go back to normal but it will grow back.
-
it's much improved since I stopped using the cream. lolz zzz.
His tail now ends in a stump though. I'm... *fairly* certain that's just the normal tip of his tail, but without hair. It would be an open wound not a rounded tip if he had chewed the end off I'm sure? Right? RIGHT??? :( ... nah, it couldn't have gone from chewed the tip off to smooth uninjured tip in just 1-2 days, so it must be just the normal bald tip. ... sigh... silly rodent...

It certainly wouldn't be round and smooth if it were broken off. But I know they usually do heal on their own if it gets broken off happens but there will be another piece somewhere. I know of a couple of yucky incidents.
