Title: Unusual coloration
Post by: Dragonfly on September 15, 2014, 11:47:47 AM
I have a 6 month old female who seems to have a dark mask on her face and a dark back. Her underside is white and the sides are light. I keep thinking she will turn a solid but the dark and light coloration just seems to get more defined. What color would you call this?

Mutt!
I'm not sure. I like to make guesses but I'm not always right. To me it looks like a beige. The dark coloring looks strange, lighter than it should to me, but it's similar in pattern to a standard grey. She definitely has beige in her. Those dark ear flecks will also darken.

It could be a plain hetero beige but the markings on the face are not well defined. There may be some violet in it.

It looks violet with pink beige ears so probably hetero beige and violet.

Some deduction information for those who want to check colors...

My opinion is definitely beige, most likely ToV (Brown Velvet).  Would need to see a photo from the side to be sure.

No violet - violets do not have ear spots.  Beige Violets also do not seem to get ear spots, nor have I ever seen any on beige violet carriers.  There are also some lines of beige that do not have spots - very confusing I know.

 :)

I was thinking there's some velvet.  Without knowing parents I would actually say TOV light tan, hetero beige.  I get that tint similar to violet in some of my hetero beige tans.

The chin is a brown velvet.
