Title: apples safe for dog
Post by: Hoppinchins on July 09, 2012, 07:13:08 AM
Are apples safe for dogs to eat. My dog weighs about 7 lbs maybe. After we eat the apple, she likes to eat a little bit of it. I wasn't sure if that was safe for her. She hasn't gotten sick from it yet.

I'm not sure if it's really good for them but they can have them. Avoid feeding the cores with seeds because there is cyanide there that can have a cumulative effect.

I looked up some information on giving apples to dogs and found an interesting article here. Not sure how credible it is but it seems legit. From what I gather fruit is okay to give on occasion but you don't want to give your dog a steady diet because it can upset their calcium/phosphorus balance which is very important to consider when formulating a diet for any animal.
