Ashes had her first kits of '12. One mosaic male 36 g and one standard male 54 g. The little one's eyes were closed so I took a q-tip in warm water to gently open up the lids. I wasn't there for the delivery, but by 11 am the kits were all clean and dry and nursing.
In 2011, Ashes had one litter, one standard female born early Sept.
In 2010, Ashes had triplets but one did not survive the birth. The surviving two were female, one standard, one black velvet.
Her first litter was in April of that year, a silver mosaic female who still lives with us.

I can't figure how to get my photos small enough to post here using my Mac so I loaded the photos to the facebook page my daughter created for our chinchillas (Smudge's Chinchilla Family).
Here is a direct link to photos of the new kits:

There are older photo albums that can be viewed from Smudge's Chinchilla Family main page.
Enjoy.

That's awesome. The mother's coloring is beautiful. I wonder how they'll turn out.

Thanks for the kind comments. I just wanted to clarify that the mom is a black velvet. The first photo in the album is their older sister. She's a mosaic or mosaic TOV, 2 years old now. She's the same one pictured as a kit in the shoe on the first page.

I guess that was a bad assumption. Nonetheless they are all very photogenic.
