Post by: Mel Apple on October 14, 2006, 09:50:26 PM
I was just carving pumpkins with a friend and it got me wondering if chinnies can have pumpkin seeds.

I don't think so.

I wouldn't risk it. Just hay and pellets for them to be on the safe side.  ;)

::silly::I've never heard of giving them pumpkin seeds ... I would not give them to them unless I knew for sure if it was safe or not .... best to be safe and NOT.
I've also received an e-mail that mentions giving a chin apricots ... not to keen on that idea either ... I'm going to check with a few people that should be able to say yes or no to one or probably both.   Let you know when I hear back from them.
Anyone out there know about the apricots?   ::shrug::

I didn't want to risk it and just give him one...the last thing I want to do is make my lil guy sick.  Thanks for the input.

I have tried them a couple of times, the chins were not fussy on them.
I've tried many seeds, like flax, was said to be good for them, but they didn't eat much.
I stick with the sunflower seeds as a treat, but I know you hate to throw stuff out. I guess you'll have to eat them all.
I put the in granola barsmmmmmmmm good.
