We're looking for a ferret/ferrets, If any one knows a rescue/breeder that will be great. :::grins:: OK besides from being on chinchillaclub.com most of the time I'm studying ferrets, it's been about 2 years I've been researching them. :o i can't believe it's been that long! :o I'm getting my paycheck for modling in a few weeks the ferrets at the petstore seem nice, but almost everyone knows i dislike getting pets from petstore but i might. So any tips will be nice!

p.s. if anyone is a fuzzbutt owner let me know! hehe
-
I fanilly found an ad! :::grins:: Its for 3 ferrets, a cage, And tons of toys all for 250$! :o That's cheap and the reason they can't keep them is because they're moving and the condo won't let them take the ferrets. :'(
-
Now i have a question for any ferret owner out there, ::think:: I'm possibly going to get 3 ferrets as posted before, If i only take 1 will that saddened her or all 3? Kinda confusing i know. ::confused::
-
I kept 2 ferrets for a friend of mine 1 time and all I know is if you don't clean that cage everyday they do not smell very good.
-
Well they sold them already :-[ but i'm still looking! :::grins:: Yes. i did know that.

I know a girl that does ferret rescue here. She is a vet assistant and knows a lot about these critters. I just remember her teling us that ferrets are predators and of course chinchillas would be prey. SO be very careful about having these two kinds of animals living in your house under one roof. If a ferret ever got loose at the same time as a chin or if a ferret ever had unsupervised play and access to the chin cages things might get risky and possibly deadly for the chins.
Just a precaution!
-
Yes. i did know that, We found more ferrets for sale and we called a bunch soo were waiting.
-
We just adopted a 3year Girl named Cassie, She's soooo cute! ::kiss99:: I'll post pictures later on.
-
::partyblow:: Congrats Misskitz you have to put pics on so we can see how cute she is.

::silly::Hi MissKitz,

Yes. i did know that, We found more ferrets for sale and we called a bunch ...
:doh: Do your parents understand that the ferret you want to bring in the house is a predator and that, given the chance, it will kill your chinchillas?

Yes, we all understand that she is only let out of the Cage when I am home and under my supet-vision. This was my choice and Daisy is as safe as can be.
-
Sorry if can Came a little Strong the ferret was my choice and i made a good one too. Daisy is the love of my life, and i would do everything to make her safe which i did. So if any one wants to say negative things please do it through P.M.S (messages)

::silly:: MissKitz,
We were just concerned for your chin and for you, if Cassie (ferret) hurt Daisy(chin). It can be a very traumatic thing to have to see, if things went wrong. I was not fussing at you. If you can keep Daisy safe and still have your ferret to play with, that is wonderful!
If it were me, I would put extra little locks on each cage, just to play it safe. That way, if company comes and you are not home, no one could let them out to play together. I kown you would not, but someone that did not know better might. One young lady called me when one of her parent's friends gave her little chin a BBQ rib because it was begging and they did not know chinchillas are vegiterians. The little chin died. Sometimes you have to be able to protect them, even when you are not home ... the locks might work good for you. ::nod::

We're getting a ferret proofed cage for Cassie and Daisy has new locks + an extra one on the bottom.
-
::shrug:: Hi Misskitz I was told that ferrets can kill a cats is that true? Since they are predator. I was just wounding. ::shrug::
-
No, I have 4 month old kitten and he loves Cassie Its so funny all the animals love her, Including the dog. She loves cooked chicken, So she might not be chickens but still.
-
:::grins:: Thanks for the info. That's cool that she gets along with the other dog and cat. ::nod::
-
Its really neat! The kitten will be playing with a toy mouse and Cassie will steal it.
-
::silly::Yes, there are always exceptions to the rule. Maybe Cassie is one of them. We'll keep our fingers crossed for Daisy's sake. You know most people will not let a dog around a chin, but my Lady (Great Dane) is great with the chins.
Since we are touching on predators and prey ... Was any one watching the discussion on t.v. when they were talking about predators and prey and how easily it usually is to tell which is which just by looking at them?
Hint: it has to do with the eyes.

Well Hunter and holly (Italian greyhounds) are NOT allowed upstairs only downstairs, Daisy is Upstairs. Cassie is upstairs.Cassie is definitely a expection!
-
Here's my baby girl Cassie!
-
Jo Ann is it that the Predator is more fucased or the prey?
-
Isn't she cute!
-
::kiss99:: That face!
-
Its the "i need a kiss" face. lol~
-
Jo Ann,
If I am not mistaken you can tell the difference between predators and prey by the placement of their eyes. Prey animals usually have their eyes placed on the sides of their heads so they can see around their bodies, like deer, where predators usually have forward-facing eyes on the front of their heads. I don't know if that's the answer form the TV special, just something I picked up somewhere. I'm sure there's more than one way to tell a predatory animal from a prey animal.
Correct ... and that puts us in the predator colum. JM

Abby, Don't you think my Baby is cute?
-
::silly::Cassie looks adorable ... and I'm not fond of ferrets, but she is very cute!
::howdythere::

Misskitz,
Cassie is very cute!!! I love her expression! I am quite fond of ferrets, but my husband is not so fond. If i brought a ferret home I might soon be shipping off a husband ::shrug:: That's ok, he is very tolerant of my chinchilla addiction, so that makes up for it :::grins::
-
She's really small for a ferret, shes only about 8 or so inches, maybe more.
-
She is very cute, but I'm with JoAnn, I'm not fond of them either.
-
::silly:: Hi Misskitz, How is Cassie doing?
-
She's doing great! Her new cage came today, which i'm sooo relived because its escape-proof.

::silly::Did she escape from her old one? They are very smart, you know ... just like chinchillas. Animals in general are much smarter than most people give them credit.
::wave::
Jo Ann
-
Yes. she did espace from her old one. She is a smart little booger.
-
::silly::Did Cassie (ferret) scare Daisy (chinchilla) when she got loose? ::)
::wave::
Jo Ann
-
she scared Daisy the first time she saw her, but this time they know each other so their fine (under my supervision)
-
Congrats Misskitz,
What a cute ferret.I think they are sweet hearts, I just couldn't take the chance with 20-30 chins. ::scaredspeachless::
I too have heard horror stories of ferrets eating chins.
No one can tell only you, how the animals are getting along.
My cat likes some chins, and some like him. Then there are those that spray him.
My cat is declawed, but I wouldn't give him 2 seconds along with one of my babies. As fun as it is to watch them play, unlike to a dog, to a cat a chin is another rodent to chastise. Instincts are "everything" in the animal kingdom.Even though things seem fine one minute these instincts can take over any second.
You be very careful OK, we just worry. |hugs|
And I'm partial to chins ::kiss99::
