We have 2 chinchillas of my own, my daughter is in 4-H and she wants to specialize in chinchillas. We only have standard greys and she wants different colors. Does anyone have a chinchilla(s) preferably not standard grey. Also, I am making my daughter pay for it herself since she wants it so it would have to be within a range of $40 or so. I don't think it matter what gender it is we have a male and a female and they both have their own cages that could fit about five chinchillas. It is ok if they are a breeding pair to because, we are trying to breed our chinchillas and we would breed a breeding pair.

hi..
i just wanted to say that you will not find a good breeding pair for only $40.. good quality chinchillas will cost around 125 and up.. depending on the color, breeder..etc...
if you want a cheap chinchilla check craigslist, but up here even there they aren't that cheap.. i wouldn't breed one i just picked up without knowing the background. i have heard to many horror stories about that..

Ok, thanks for the tip. I also told my daughter she had to sell her sugar gliders and hamsters so she can probably afford around $100. I also check craigslist but they are mostly standards and if there is a different color it is about $300. I do check craigslist everyday though.

just be aware if someone on craigslist list says they are a breeder, that doesnt mean the chins you are getting are quality.. think of it this way, a true good breeder cares, so therefor, they will not sell on craiglist but their own website. good luck

A good breeding standard grey will cost more than 100.00 a mutation worth breeding will cost even more. Just be prepared.
