Title: Hello from Hernando Beach, Florida
Post by: Charlie330 on September 12, 2007, 02:42:38 PM
My name is Charlie, I recently moved to Hernando Beach from Orlando where I grew up. I started college a few weeks ago and live off-campus in a rental house with no room mates. I decided I needed a pet to keep me company and began researching. After about 2 weeks of careful thought and planning, I decided a Chinchilla was just what I needed. I began checking the classified adds, as money is pretty tight, and found a great deal on a 6-8 month old, nameless, standard gray that included a cage and a few accessories. I went and picked him up Sunday and named him Klaus.

::silly::  Hi Charlie and Welcome to the Wonderful World of Chinchillas!

It would be a good thing to check in the area for a good exotic pet vet that is familar with chinchillas ... not all of them can properly care for a chinchilla.   You don't want to need one an leave your little one to suffer while you try to find one.  Check to see if your school has a vet teaching section.

A chinchilla fund is also something you might want to look into.  Chinchilla vet visits can be expensive ... check out the fees, then ...  build a "chinchilla-only" money stash just 'in-case'.
