General Breeder Chat / Looking for chinchillas in Colorado
« on: October 20, 2014, 09:03:26 PM »
I am new to the forum, and I have 6 beige chinchillas. I have been breeding for over 3 years now, and I have had a wonderful time doing it. The kits are so great to have around :-) I am looking to broaden my horizons as far as color goes. I have been looking for some time for a place where I could adopt/rescue/purchase chinchillas of a different color variation. I have nothing against my little beige beauties...but I also think it would be great to mix it up a little. Anyone know of breeders/adoption sites/etc. In Colorado? I would love any/all suggestions. Thanks for reading :-)

Q & A / Whisker Chewing
« on: October 20, 2014, 08:58:41 PM »
Hi All,
I have 6 chinchillas, I have 4 housed in a large cage together, and 2 others in a separate smaller cage. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced their chins chewing each other's whiskers...I am pretty sure it's the mother chins that do it. What does that mean? Are they stressed? Is it a territorial thing? I would love to hear any and all suggestions :-)

Guestbook / Hello from Aurora Colorado

Hi There!
I am new to the forum, and I joined to hopefully get connected with other chinchilla lovers around...near or far :-)
I currently have 6 chinchillas, all are beige, some are lighter than others. I started with my little boy Panchito about 5 years ago, shortly after I ended up inheriting a girlfriend for him. They have had 4 litters together, and I have been able to adopt several of them out to loving families. I have a substantial amount of experience with all different kinds of exotic animals, and chinchillas have become my choice animal thus far. Right now they are the only animals I have in my life, and I do adore them. Although I do consider myself an avid chinchilla keeper, there is never too much information, and you can't learn enough about these curious little critters...which is exactly why I decided to join a community of people who talk ALOT about chinchillas :)
