I took Ottis out of the cage tonight for play time in the bathroom and he was fine then he hid behind the toilet and started making weird noises at me. he'd do them and look directly at me.. he'd like "pffft" and then make these squeeking noises... i hope i didnt make him mad
Here is a video of Ottis being noisy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQI0bMIk6WE&feature=context-gau

This is probably normal. In fact this could be a good sign that he is bonding to you. Not all chins do this. As long as your chin is not injured or showing signs of distress I would not worry about it.

I hear some of the strangest noises coming from my guys . Like the dreaming Bark . Which happens when they are asleep . The love song from MeeKeeMoo when CHuppers is in heat . They Squeel from Chuppers when she is angry and MeeKeeMoo and wants him to leave her alone. Its more than likely normal. You will hear some odd things when you have chins.

I've heard my chin make this noise before. Not sure if its the same reason but he usually does it when he's aggravated at me or my sister. He also does it if he doesn't like the show thats on TV (totally serious, he REALLY hates Phineas and Ferb, so my sister can't watch it in my room hahaha)
I wouldn't worry too much about it though, he's just trying to communicate with you.

awe thanks guys :)
hes becoming used to me and jumps all over me now and gets soooo excited (like a dog almost) when i get off work and come to the cage to let him out and play.. He jumps around and leans up on the cage lol. makes me feel special

too cute!! glad things are getting better; he sounds so much like Dexter its crazy! (my two sound pretty different from each other)

Snickerdoodle doesn't watch too much tv, but in the first month that we had him, he barked at the animals on animal planet.
-
hahahahaha thats awesome! My cats (esp my indoor one) loves animal planet and planet earth. I've never turned it on for the chins though I'll have to try that!
-
Haha yeah, it was back in the beginning. My dad had read that tv is mentally stimulating for chins. Now NIckers ignores the tv lol
-
Chuppers LOVES cartoon network. MeeKeeMee doesnt watch TV all that much but Chupppers does . She will gripe me out if I change the channel and leave it on something she doesnt like.
-
She gets mad?
-
Sure does. She will bark and carry on until the channel is changed to her liking.

HAHAHA rofl i love chinnys even more now. they act like children but are much easier to clean up after (unless Ottis decides to get mad because he didnt get to come out of his cage so he threw his carefresh at us) ....
Ottis was banging on the walls of the cage and id look up and he'd be trying to squeeze himself out of the cage (all he can get is his nose) and was angry so we took him out but he knows he can't come out unless he gets into our hands for us to carry him to the bathroom... but man chinnys act like little two year olds if they don't get their way!!
Ottis doesn't really seem to pay attention to TV much though, we were watching My name is earl reruns and he didn't really do much, then we watched a couple movies and no response so maybe he is just not interested.. lol but he sure does love doing the living room 500 where he runs around counter clock wise a million times..

Does anyone know the meanings of each sound they make?
-
i don't know if this is standard for all chins, but velvet:
-clicks teeth when annoyed or irritated
-makes the same hrff sound of ottis in Beccaleigh05's video when in heat
-makes a sort of growl that i cannot describe with conventional English letters, its kinda throaty, like it involves the uvula (probably misspelled that, the dangly thing in the back of your throat) when really ticked off (she was real unhappy with me for about a week after we had to move her cage) also accompanied by spraying
-doesn't really seam to have a happy sound, just cuddling, playing and popcorning... she really did like that jingle bell tho...
