Wow!!  that is really interesting.  A friend of mine has an Arab gelding/mare that is hermaphroditic.  Thye said he was sterile, so I guess it surprizes me tht Magoo would be fertile. ::shrug::

Q & A / Re: Hay.
« on: January 20, 2007, 04:58:15 AM »
If you decide to buy hay from a farmer make sure it is the HORSE hay.  Cows stomachs are much different than horses as they can digest just about anything. Cow's hay can tend to have more mold or fescue/weeds. Horses easily colic.  As chinnie tummy are much more delicate, you want to stay with the horse hay then.  We got away from Oxbow hay as the stuff was cut so finely that it fell through the mangers.  It also looked no different than grass hay..not very rough in texture. I have also noticed with the horse hay that the quality is MUCH better and the grass is a little tougher which helps to wear down their teeth.  The hay is a mixture of Timothy and Alfalfa. They have been eating it without problems and even seem to enjoy it much more.
Hope this helps. ::silly:: :)

Aaaaaw thanks guys! :blush2:  Pookahs girls left today with a family that are from my sister in laws school.  They were all so excited to be taking them home today.  I am so sad that they are leaving but happy too that they will have a good home.  Hubby and I both cried when they left tonight! ::cry222:::

Q & A / Weeing on shelves
« on: January 13, 2007, 11:09:02 PM »
::silly:: We have a problem re: weeing on shelves. When Gizmo was in his cage that he is in now, he would wee all over the shelves. When he was placed in the birthing cage with Pookah for mating and then through her first litter, there was never a wet shelf! Except of course when he would get sprayed by Pook! He never went the whole time they were in together in that cage and it had wood shelves. Now that he is in the old cage again (Superpet with plastic shelves... yes I know it is plastic but he doesn't chew them) he is weeing on his shelves again and has gotten his son into it too! :doh:  The weirdest thing is thye have a piece of drift wood in there that they like to sit on and at times you would think they use it as a porta potty!! ::beeker:: There is poo on the shelf right below a hole in the wood!! Not to mention wee under another hole near a knot in the wood. ??? It is the ODDEST thing I have ever seen! I wish I knew what to do too. We have also thought about trying the litter box. Loki our other male does almost all of his pooing and weeing in the bottom of the cage. Any suggestions?!  Or is this just their...oddity?? ::)

Yep first of the year and we plan on NOT breeding her again until late Summer 07.  We want to give her a good Loooooong rest this time.  ::nod:: Gizmo is in his cage with his son yet. We tried to put him in the cage with the boys when Pookah was out for a romp.  he howed no real intrest in them but sniffed the cage all over.  I suppose looking for his "woman"  rofl ::silly::
