Guestbook / I supposed I should sign. :)
« on: May 30, 2006, 03:13:18 PM »
My name is Sarah. I'm 22 years old. I work as an administrative assistant at a home health/hospice agency. I currently own (or do they own me??) 3 chinchillas, 2 sugar gliders, 1 rabbit, and 1 cat.  ::silly::
My animals are very special to me, they know just how to brighten up the day. :) I can't imagine my life without my pets, they are my joys. ::silly::
I hope to begin my herd within the next year. I have been reading all I can about breeding, babies, hand feeding kits, possible problems... ect. ect. ect... There is sooo much information out there. I am going to be starting small. with 1 breeding pair. I will see how I do there and decide if I am ready/wanting to expand. I know I am going to have a difficult time giving up any of my kits born.  :-[
I love talking about my pets, chinnies and suggies! ::silly:: Feel free to add me to your AIM buddy list if you want to chat away.  :::grins::

Chit Chat / Memorial Day Weekend!
« on: May 30, 2006, 03:02:37 PM »
How was everyone's holiday weekend? What did you do? BBQ anyone?

We fired up the BBQ and had Hamburgers on Sunday and Carne Asada and Pollo Asada Tacos on Monday! It was nice having an extra day off work. The weather was beautiful too. Nice breeze, not too hot. Perfection!

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.

General Chat / My Violet Boy
« on: May 25, 2006, 02:24:18 PM »
I recently purchased a Violet male. He is just lovely. He is out of Mike at OCC and comes from show lines. He is just a lovely boy. I am going to be making a trip out the Bowens in the next month or so and finding him a mate, more than likely a nice big standard girl or perhaps a violet carrier. He has good size and is very blue. ;) The only weakness he does have is tightness in the fur, its still good, but not as tight as I would want, so we are going to try for V/C's in this first pairing. :)
He hasnt been handled a lot, so he's a big of a scaredy chin, and he slips fur quite a bit, so I am trying to get him used to me. He is doing much better and will now come to the from on the run for treats or a quick scratch. :D
His former mate actually just gave birth yesterday to 2 kits a violet male 64g and a mosaic female 62g. They are fabulous. I can't wait to see the kits I'll get from him. LOL Since he is going to be the first of my herd, I'm sure I'll want his kits to stay forever. I'm hoping to gain a little more size and a bit tighter fur with my first generation. I'm really excited about this guy.
Here's a picture. Sorry for the bad lighting(Yucky bathroom lighting :-\), I took these quickly with my camera phone. I need to get some good natural light shots of him, and full body pictures. He is truly a lovely boy.

Other Pets / Sugar Gliders
« on: May 25, 2006, 09:28:26 AM »
I just got 2 sugar gliders on Sunday. They are so great! They are half sisters and 8 weeks out of pouch (OOP).  ;D
I love watching them play. They've been a lot of fun to watch so far, they are little acrobats.  :D
I'll have to post their pictures in a little while since Photobucket is undergoing maintenance.  :(
