Breeding 101 / Re: Peaka and Pooka
« on: June 08, 2008, 02:44:04 PM »
I think the only thing you need to be concerned about is whether the mom and dad are related to each other.  Mating 2 ebonies is OK as long as each of them are good quality.

It is not necessary to feed the female calf manna.  In fact it can be detrimental to both mom and kits.  Kits can grow to be too large and mom may not be able to deliver them. Just be sure mom has plenty of good feed, hay and fresh water.  That is all she needs during pregnancy.  Hope this helps.

General Breeder Chat / Re: Alfalfa versus Timothy Hay
« on: June 08, 2008, 02:37:56 PM »
Alfalfa is actually a legume not a grass like timothy hay.   Alfalfa has a higher protien content.  Most chin feed is alfalfa based so most folks feed timothy hay.

The father's eyes also look quite dark in the pictures.  Ear color does not determine whether or not an animal carries the ebony gene.  The father looks like a white mosaic to me and so does his kit.  Very nice looking chins!

General Breeder Chat / Re: Beige
« on: June 08, 2008, 02:25:53 PM »
If the animal's belly is white then it is a hetero beige.  Tans are a combination of beige and ebony so their eyes are also dark red.

2008 Empress National Show -  Feb. 29th, March 1st and 2nd  - St. Louis, MO

You must be an Empress Member to exhibit animals.

Silent Auction Rules

Entering animals in the silent auction is optional.   You must be an exhibitor to place entries in the Silent Auction.   An exhibitor may enter all, any or none of his show entries in the auction.   He/she may do so by identifying the cage number of the animal/s to be entered in the auction on a Silent Auction Seller List, along with the "bottom dollar" price he/she is willing to accept.

The minimum price is $100. This "bottom dollar" price, once posted, MAY NOT BE RAISED or LOWERED!

Appropriate records will be maintained indicating those cage numbers for the silent auction and their minimum prices.  Show cage tags will be marked with a specially colored dot indicating this show animal is 'in the silent auction.'

As no one is allowed in the animals areas during the show, those wishing to view an animal as it goes through the show will be allowed to SILENTLY walk past the show table once each class has been finished (Judges' comments completed) to get a closer look at the Silent Auction entries.   THERE WILL BE NO HANDLING OF THE ANIMALS/CAGES AND NO DISCUSSION WILL BE ALLOWED!

Anyone wishing to bid on an animal may meet/raise the minimum price posted or raise the current bid price by indicating as such to the Silent Auction Chairman. A person may raise his/her bid at any time, but MAY NOT remove their bid once posted!

EXTRAS TABLE—An exhibitor or Judge having animals that will not be in the show which they wish to place in the Silent Auction may do so by completing a Silent Auction Seller List. These animals will be caged and placed on a separate table with each cage having its own pen tag and number indicating the 'bottom dollar auction price' (minimum $100), birth date, sex, etc. Entry fees for these 'extra animals' is $6.00 each.

If/when any 'silent auction' animal is sold, 10% of the final bid price will be retained by the Hosting Branch. All animals will be paid for and claimed by the successful bidder through the Registration Table.

Silent Auction bidding will close approximately one-half hour after the Mutation Live Animal Show!
