I know that people hate mice and spiders, but I actually have a tarantula named Spike, and I had a Rat named Baby Girl. (The only thing I hate about rats are their tails. They're all scabby and scaly and dirty!) EEEEEWWWWW!

General Chat / My chin died unexpectedly...

Ever since my chinchilla died, I have been trying to figure out why. We only had him for a week. The breeder said it may be because we had a different water bottle, than he's used to. He didn't drink that much, but he still did drink. He was only 4, so he didn't die of old age. He was fine the day before that, but when I woke up one morning, he was laying in a slump. He squeaked when you picked him up, but he didn't sound in pain. When we (my family and I) got home, he was dead. I just want to know, so that I don't do the same thing wrong, with the new chinchilla I'm getting. If you have any questions, or guesses, please post here! Your help will be wonderful!

Congrats on the babies! I hope you enjoy them! But that is so sad! Was the baby born without an upper lip? Maybe it was just a birth defect, but did you find blood in the cage? That also could have been from fighting.

The happiest holiday is when you include family and chinchillas, especially with FOOD! Haha
Reminds me of when we were at Grandma's house.
She always baked cookies, oatmeal-raisin & peanut butter bars.
We would bring pets, presents, and Grandpa.
After it (the death of so sad ...the new baby goldfish) ate and the thought was about contentness, chinchillas, Disneyland, and memories.

Health / Treat question!

I am getting a chinchilla from a lady that doesn't feed him any treats at all. I would like to train him to do certain things, like crawl unto my arm, or return to the cage after playtime. It is a baby. (only 10 weeks old) I read that you should only give babies like 1 treat a day. Will this be okay? I don't want to hurt him. Or do you use something different, instead of treats?

Yeah. It was terrible. But I olny had him for a week. I mean, at least I didn't have him for like 10 years, then he died. But I still know that he loved me!
